I am a professional classical guitarist and lutenist with many years of teaching experience. I tailor lessons to my students' needs and interests. This may mean training a young classical guitarist for a professional career, teaching a beginner to play his or her favorite pop song, or anything in between! Learning to play the lute, mandolin, or ukulele are other possibilities, or perhaps improving one's knowledge of music theory. I have a background in electric guitar, electric bass, and traditional Irish music. Whatever the style or instrument, I always strive to impart or reinforce the fundamentals of technique and musicianship.

Dear Music Students, I am an American guitarist, composer, and teacher from the US newly relocated to the Netherlands, based in Delft and offering music lessons at home in my living room and at my studio location in the Hague. I did my bachelor's in guitar performance at Berklee College of Music where I specialized in Jazz, and hold master's degrees from Yerevan State Conservatory and Royal Conservatoire Antwerp where I specialized in Composition and Electronic music as well as continued with my Jazz studies. While my background is in Jazz my interests have always been broad and I'm happy to work with students at a variety of levels of experience, stylistic backgrounds and interests. Whether you are new to music and to the guitar and want to just learn the basics and strum the chords to some songs or are already interested in more advanced techniques and challenging pieces I'm sure with my background, education and experience that I can be a helpful resource for you. I do understand a bit of Dutch but I don't speak well yet so my lessons are taught in English. Topics I like to focus on include: Improving Guitar Technique and Understanding of the Instrument, Understanding Music Theory, Reading and Writing Musical Notation, Learning how to Improvise, Composition & Arrangement Skills, Music Technology Hardware and Software, Ensemble Coaching, Class Assistance and Tutoring, University/Conservatory Preparation. Please feel free to get in touch with any questions or to express interest. Looking forward to working with you and wishing you all the best on your musical journey! Sincerely, Alexander

Whether you're picking up the guitar for the first time, returning to playing as an adult, or building on skills you already have, my lessons focus on helping you develop a strong musical foundation, build confidence, and play real songs you enjoy. Many people begin learning guitar by memorizing a few chords or songs, but understanding how music works makes it much easier to keep progressing. In my lessons, I'll guide you step-by-step, so they develop the skills and knowledge you need to learn new songs independently over time. Through practical, song-based learning, you'll develop essential skills like chords, rhythm, technique, and musical understanding. Each lesson is personalized to your goals, interests, and learning pace. I'm also passionate about helping families connect through music! I offer family guitar lessons for parents and children, as well as siblings who want to learn guitar together. Whether you're all complete beginners or have different levels of experience, we'll build skills step by step and learn to play guitar together. My goal is to help your family make music a fun, shared experience while growing in confidence and musical ability. I believe learning music should be both rewarding and enjoyable. I'll meet you where you are, encourage you through challenges, and celebrate your progress in a supportive environment where you feel comfortable learning, experimenting, and making mistakes.
