I teach not only the ordinary modern bassoon but also historical performance, whether that would be on period instruments or otherwise. I am also available to tutor music theory and composition for all levels. I have won prizes in both bassoon and composition, including the Royal Schools Music Club Anniversary Scholarship, the Bendat Family Foundation Composition Scholarship, the Royal Over-Seas League Arts Travel Scholarship, and the Catholic Arts Chapman Scholarship. My name is Logan, and I'm a bassoonist of 13 years originally from the Chicago area currently pursuing graduate study with Marc Engelhardt at the Hochschule für Musik, Stuttgart. I'm offering bassoon lessons at all levels, whether you're just picking up the instrument for the first time or you're preparing yourself for a competition. I have nearly ten years of teaching experience in a wide variety of settings with a wide range of student ages, beginning with my work as a volunteer tutor early in high school and carrying on through my positions as an assistant conductor through the Peabody Preparatory and as a private academic tutor. I currently make all of my own bassoon reeds from tube cane, and I have been finishing my own reed blanks for nearly ten years. I am proficient in both the German and American styles of blank-making and reed-finishing; I am prepared to teach one or both styles to appropriately-leveled students as necessary and as requested.

Bassoon lessons: In this lessons you will be able to learn how to play the bassoon, to blow and tune, to play in groups, understand the harmonic and melodic system of the interpretation of the different music styles. You will be able to learn how to make your own reeds and how to repair them. Duration of the lesson is generally 60 minutes, but it can be always the student`s choice. The dynamics of the classes is focused on the interpretation and musical understanding, as well as the elaboration and maintenance of reeds, all looking for a positive, dynamic and fun environment. Music Theory lessons: Here you will be able to learn how to understand the composers and their music; historical and theorical reasons of why music is written in different ways during the evolution of music history. You will be also able to learn how to read and sing music. Composition skills are also available. The duration of the lesson is under choice. Both bassoon an music theory lessons can be combined.

The ideal would be one hour or hour and a half a week, but that depends on the student availability. I would provide a personal adaptation. I like playing games, singing and coming up to most creative solutions for learning fast inside of a save space for questions and imagination of the student. It is very important to motivate the students regarding to their music tastes. I consider myself an involved and motivated musician. I am constantly trying to learn new styles and enjoy so much doing it. At the moment I am studying my second bachelor degree in music, specifically in Early Music. Hello everybody, I am a professional Spanish bassoonist living in Ghent since 2019. I started playing the bassoon when I was 8 years old and I have always been passionate about the world of music and art because I consider it essential in these times. After studying my bachelor's degree in Spain, I came to do a master's degree with Professor Pieter Nuytten, Graziano Moretto and Jaap de Vries. Afterwards I did a postgraduate course in contrabassoon with Jaap de Vries. I have experience both in orchestra and in teaching people of different ages, because I have been a teacher since 2021. I have knowledge about reeds, how to make them, how to fix them, etc. I consider it an essential part of the instrument. I consider myself to be a passionate person who loves his profession and also to be able to help musicians to develop their career as an artist.
