A bit about me: I have BA in fine art and specialise in sculpture and installation, and have explored and still enjoy many other medium throughout my career. I’m really enthusiastic about sharing creative understanding and supporting developing artists. I also have a wide range of interests and inspirations, so if your looking into a topic, chances are myself or one of the artists I’ve worked with has most likely researched it! .

This textile design class is for anyone wanting to enter the creative field of textile design. It is for students who wish to gain a place on a textile course, current textile students, textile graduates, designers and creatives who want to learn how to create commercial allover print textile designs or for those transitioning from university to industry. You will learn how to create a commercial design, which colours to use, how to create a commercial portfolio and how to present it, what makes a successful layout, where to find inspiration, which target market are you designs best suited to, which software to use and how to use it

We are going to experiment together.We will collaborate to make a free-standing nest structure which explores ideas of home, made from locally scavenged materials, domestic debris, and biomaterials.Young people will have the chance to learn making skills, experiment, and each child will plant a seed in a pot and be given a lavender plant to take home.

I also highly recommend my student take excellent notes during my demonstrations and instruction time. I will always share my own notes and sketch journals so the student has a goal in mind. After a section of tuition has been completed (equal to a half term) I examine the notes and give feedback.
