Politics tutoring sessions for A-Level and below students

I am incredibly passionate in the field of politics, in particular British politics. Since doing an A-Level in this subject and applying to university to study this further I have seen my curiosity grow into different areas of this exciting subject.

In times like these, I feel it is incredibly important to understand our government and rules in which it operates and must abide by.

In this class, we will be covering different areas of the politics A-level syllabus, from the topics of our constitution to International governmental organisation.

I hope this will be an interactive lesson with plenty of opportunities for questions and debates.

About Me

Hello,
I am 18 years old and have just finished school, awaiting to begin studying politics at the university of Edinburgh in September.

Although I am young and have yet to attend university I am incredibly passionate in my subject field. After completing 10 IGCSEs to grade A and A* standard I began my Level subjects in Politics, Geography and Economics as well as completing an extended project titles 'Should Assisted Suicide be legalised in the UK', to the same standard as my GCSEs.

I am a fun and interactive person with the main aim of encouraging pupils to understand and enjoy the subjects I am tutoring them in. As I have just left school and have a fresh experience of the situation and demands I am very approachable and care about my students learning and experiences.

I aim to tailor each tutor session to fulfil the demands of the students and allow them to learn in a way which suits them.

Education

I have achieved high level IGCSE and A-level results as well as an expended project all to A and A* level.
GCSEs include- Higher tier maths, English language, English literature, Triple science, Design and technology, Geography, History, Photography.

A-levels include- Politics, Geography, Economics and an extended project titles 'Should Assisted Suicide be legalised in the UK'

I would be comfortable to tutor in any of the above subjects to GCSE and A-level standard.

Experience / Qualifications

High grades of GCSEs and Levels
Bronze and gold Duke of Edinburgh award
Chair of East Kent Schools together organisation
Qualified sailing and first aid water instructor
Grade 8 Singing within trinity
Member of the combined cadets force
volunteering abroad at a school in Vietnam
Hello! I have been studying Geography for many years within a school environment but after traveling to different areas in the world, I have seen a different side of the geography subject taught within our schools syllabus. After achieving a high grade in my GCSE geography exam, I continued onto take the A-level. Throughout my time at school, I had always felt that being taught areas of a subject I was struggling with by another student who understood and was able to explain these areas made things a lot simpler and easier to understand. This is what I aim to provide my students. An opportunity to understand areas of the subject which they find hard and allow them to enjoy the subject.

Is American society becoming more capitalistic and conservative or is there something else going on? How can we address the polarisation in national politics? Is the local government the solution? What is the role of lobbyists, think tanks, and interested groups in all this? These are some of the questions that we will address. A Level Politics and Government Tuition For Individuals!
How much power does Donald Trump really have? Does feminism have much to say about mens rights? Who set up the Tories, and what is a Union? In this class we discuss and study the AS and A2 Politics and Government certificates by AQA and OCR, which explores themes, topics, and debates regarding parliamentary politics in the UK, and federal politics in the US. We also explored themes of gender, immigration, and unions through the lens of Liberalism, Marxism, and Feminism. I am educated to Masters Level in Political Science from a Redbrick University (University of Leeds 2019), and received a A* grade in Politics in 2010, and have taught GCSE sociology and A level Politics for 3 years whilst at University. The lessons are structured around core themes in political theory. In EVERY lesson we use worksheets, discussion points, multi-media such as music and films, and I set homework if needed, all lessons are tailored to your needs exactly! 1) In beginner lessons we explore the basic set-up of parliamentary politics, core democratic principles, and other ways of managing States and Nations . Essays will be built around ensuring you have understood these basic principles, and I offer written feedback within 5 days. 2) Intermediate lessons are structured around questions that actively compare political systems, and we then begin forming arguments about political systems, and the ideologies that motivate them. We begin to read and explore major theorists such as Marx and Locke, but you are only required to explain what theory they advocate at this level. Essays will be built around ensuring you have understood how to form basic arguments, and I offer written feedback within 5 days. 3) We explore the validity of sources and theories within politics, and actively debate the philosophical and moral theory present needed to get a great mark in this A level. I expect you to be able to actively discuss theorists their views, and compare and contrast them by forming thoughtful arguments. I set specific essay questions that are similar to themes in your final exams, and offer critical written and in person feedback. I am passionate about improving your grade in Politics, and am able to work with all level of students to bring out the best in them, by offering structured feedback, in which I will set out exactly what you need to do to get a high grade.

Course and coaching writing of dissertations and exams social sciences (political science, anthropology, international relations)
PhD student in international development at the University of Oxford, I offer two types of courses: - Coaching lessons and exams: study and memorization techniques, help in understanding the subject (based on the student's questions), blockade management - Coaching of research papers and dissertations: proofreading of dissertations, research assistance (research questions, qualitative methodologies, literature reviews, data analysis) and writing (structure, language EN / FR, bibliographies and referencing) I start with the questions of the student or his work, and discuss possible improvements or explain the material points that cause difficulties. On request, I sometimes give in-depth sessions on particular chapters. To do this, I use the teaching method specific to the University of Oxford (the tutorial), which is based on a discussion between the teacher and the student and reading recommendations. My courses are aimed at students of university education, from BAC to Masters.

Political Science, International Relations and Government
This class is aimed to provide guidance and help for anyone studying political science, government or international relations. I aim to structure all my lessons to broaden my student's worldview, challenge their assumptions and test the logic of their arguments. I am able to bring a unique synthesis of perspectives to all my lessons to help my students to use political science, government and IR theories to analysis current global issues. I also have a strong background in essay writing and logic which I use to help test and strengthen the theses of their essays. As this is an ever-evolving field, I feel learning is very much a two-way process, and try to use dialogue, discussion and contextual materials and examples to build the student's understanding. I really enjoy this field and try to bring my enthusiasm, knowledge and experience to every class I teach.

My qualifications are as follows: Distinction in MA International Relations from Durham University 2.1 in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Oxford A*s at A level in English Literature, Economics and Politics A at A level in German 11 A*s at GCSE (Biology, Business Studies, Chemistry, English Language, English Literature, History, Geography, German, Mathematics, Physics, Religious Education) Additionally, I passed the 11+ entrance exams for Wilson's School, Wallington County Grammar School, and St. Olave's Grammar School. This involved delivering workshops on both debating technique and content, before allowing students to put their learning into practice and providing extensive feedback on their speeches. I like to identify where the most improvement can be made and target encouraging feedback towards those areas. Often I find it helpful to have students prepare material for each session so we can work through the answers and clarify any misunderstandings before applying the learning to new examples. Please get in touch if you have any questions!
