I have worked for 5 years now with kids from international schools who were "hating" maths because the methods used by their IB teachers were too complicated and hard to understand. I believe that no one is "not mathematical", we just have to find the way to approach the subject together; I have indeed a few teaching methods that can be adapted to a kids' needs, I believe every kid needs a different method to fully understand the subject. THEORY - Understanding the theory behind the exercises, this phase is the shortest since I believe that to fully understand maths you need to exercise. 2. EXERCISES - Doing exercises divided by subject we. just went through in the theory part. 3. PAST PAPERS - Going through past papers to "simulate" a potential exam. My students were successfully passing Finals, enrolling in Lyceums and Universities. In almost all the cases, my students were initially thinking that they don't like Mathematics and/or Physics, that "they are not that type of person that can succeed in that sphere". Solution of this problem is simple and obvious, just to try other approach of teaching. So my first lesson is aimed at finding the key for the student. My lessons are usually a little bit longer than one hour or two, because I always make 5-10 minutes break, because student might get tired (especially in case of online lessons). After every lesson, I give the Homework to the student and at the beginning of every next lesson we are checking results, making corrections and I ask to explain the solution, if needed.
