About Me

Translated by Google. Click to view original.
Hanna is a talented and innovative Belgian harpist and multidisciplinary artist. In June 2025, she obtained her Master's degree in Classical Music with great distinction from the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp, where she studied with Miriam Overlach and Mathilde Wauters. From a classical foundation, she developed into a versatile musician with a distinct love for improvisation, composition, interdisciplinary art, and pushing the traditional boundaries of her instrument. She experiments with new techniques, sound possibilities, and performance formats, constantly seeking ways to give the harp a contemporary, relevant voice.
From a young age, Hanna has been active in various disciplines. In addition to her classical training, she studied dance, jazz piano, theater production, drama, cabaret, composition, and improvisation. This broad artistic background forms the foundation of her unique artistic signature today. In recent years, she has performed three times in the youth operas of Muziektheater Transparant at deSingel, and in 2023 she appeared in the BlackBox performance at the Royal Museum of Fine Arts (KMSKA). In 2024, she shared the stage with the Scandinavian jazz orchestra Fire! Orchestra. She collaborated with artist Emilia Schupp of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts and explored a performative experiment involving "viewpoints" with dancers and actors. In the past year, she has performed at venues including the Arte Amanti Festival, Fold Me at the Hasselt Fashion Museum, and De Klap in Deurne. In 2025 she will be working on new concerts for which she will write her own compositions and improvisations, including at Klankhaven, CORSO, Sound of c festival and more.
For Hanna, the harp is more than just an instrument with a rich history; it's an infinite universe of sound that can sound clear and magical, mysterious, raw, or dark. This versatility inspires her to explore new possibilities, both within the existing repertoire and in her own work. She admires the classical tradition but feels a strong urge to forge her own path and create space for new forms, new sounds, and new connections. In doing so, she seeks dialogue with other disciplines and with social issues.
At age seven, Hanna already dreamed of creating her own music and performances. Today, she embodies that dream in an artistic practice where music, movement, text, and image intertwine. For her master's thesis, she created her debut musical theater performance, The Inner Black Box, in collaboration with Muziektheater Transparant. For this interdisciplinary work, which combines her passion for art and social issues, she received the highest distinction.
Hanna's social mission is inspired by the philosophy and words of psychiatrist Dirk De Wachter. She believes in the healing power of art, especially in a society where vulnerability, grief, and silence are often denied space. For her, art is a shared language, a place where the invisible can exist.
The harp is my tool for expressing universal emotions and connecting with people from diverse audiences, in diverse settings. It's not just about my role as a performing musician; the music and the power of art are central. It's my calling to share my passion for music with others through my instrument.

Hanna gives lessons in piano (both classical and pop jazz), harp and solfège.
The lessons are always adapted to the wishes of the student.

Medieval, folk and Celtic harp lessons
"I still remember the first time I heard the sound of a harp. I was 8 years old, my grandparents took me to a concert in the small church of Gosselies. When the harpist began to pluck the strings, I was kidnapped by the magical sound that emanated from the wooden heart. The longer the concert went on, the closer I got to the harp... After pestering my parents for a year, I began to study this magnificent instrument. It immediately became a sacred object for me. Thanks to it, I could communicate my feelings, laugh, relax and find the balance I was looking for." My courses are based on the Irish teaching method so first of all to the ear, on the resources that the student has in himself and on the fact that one learns while having fun. I propose a harp lesson: - Medieval dedicated to teenagers and adults for false beginner and intermediate based on medieval music and rebirth, improvisation, arrangement of melodies, ... - Celtic for all ages from 14 to 70 years, beginner level, false beginner, intermediate and intermediate / advanced based on Celtic repertoire and Irish, Scottish and Breton techniques After a few lessons, the neo-harpists will play short and simple melodies until the end of the journey to play more complete melodies that provide accompaniment and use of both hands. Lessons are defined on the learning needs of individual students. Even if I use the Irish teaching method, I will provide the basis for reading the pentagram, for the integration of rhythm, the foundations of harmony so that the student can read a piece of music independently. I live in Italy, so I come back to Belgium about once a month for face-to-face lessons (duration of face-to-face lesson: 90 minutes). Next dates for face-to-face courses in Belgium: December 23 and 28, 2024 For googlemeet courses (3-4x per month, lesson duration 60 minutes) see typical week. Do not hesitate to write to me.
