Private lessons from a very experienced bassist with over 10 years of experience performing internationally and more than 5 years as a teacher. The lessons are for all levels, it is not necessary to have previous experience. In the lessons, we'll learn the instrument and musical theory but the main focus is to play and have fun doing so. I'm mainly focused on Jazz music but I've performed several different styles of music and the lessons can be tailored to your musical interests. I've learned to play this instrument with the best teachers in Europe but I also studied in NYC with Jazz legends such as Buster Williams, Reggie Workman and David Wong.

Hey there! In my lessons, what you want is the most important. That's why we create together a plan of study with ideas, goals and subjects to reach out our dream to make music (that's also my dream)

Nevertheless, I can give you an overview of the content:

I divide the music theory in two: Technical and Musical.
Technical Theory regarding all the concepts and information related to music, and Musical Theory regarding the ideas and concepts to help us understand and improve the performance of music. Besides that, we look to harmony in a functional, rhythmical and organic way. We learn and approach music from the first lesson, looking at it from different angles (understanding rhythm and essence of a song for example). All this plus a nice diet of assignments and exercises: D

Furthermore, we put especial attention to enjoying music. That means playing but also listening music! For me, that's one of the best ways to learn :)

And of course, we learn as well by making mistakes, so at the end it's all about fun and trying things out;)

My name is Toby. I am offering drum lessons to people of any age or skill level in the city of Amsterdam.
I have played and loved the drums since I was 6 years old, and completed grades 1-8 with Trinity Guildhall.
I was taught for 12 years in England, and I aim to pass on what I have learned from my education and playing experience to new students.
I believe that good technique must be practiced in order to access the range of musical expression possible with the drums. I aim to teach it comprehensively and practice it with students rigorously, so that they can develop their creative vocabulary and ultimately apply this to their own practice and playing.
Learning how to listen is essential to playing an instrument. I aim to develop students’ listening and ability to play with sensitivity and feeling, something that is essential when playing with other musicians.
I ultimately want to inspire students to make music. I consider this the most thrilling and creative reason to learn an instrument.
Sessions will be in English, and held at a hired practice space in the city.

Private lessons for beginners to advanced level of violin playing. All ages are welcome. I am a professionally trained teacher and violinist for almost two decades. My lessons are given in English, Spanish and (basic) Dutch.

My teaching method is variable depending on the students' needs, but the goal is shared: to make a great musician and qualified violinist out of the pupil. I work on both technical and musical aspects from a (very) consciously prepared healthy and enjoyable perspective. Particular emphasis on having fun with the little ones!

I pay special attention to creating a personalized education and experience for every one of my students. I also give some additional tools applicable to the violin playing which includes: Introduction to Yoga, Feldenkrais, Alexander Technique and Body & Mind. All the basic theory is taught too.

Occasionally, there are student concerts and collaborations with other teachers. (These may include some teachers from the Sweelinck Academy or the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, and more).

From among the required tools for my lessons are: a violin and a bow, score and books purchases when necessary, and, from time to time, meetings with the parents. On occasion, I use digital tools like phone/tablet apps.

I can teach in various places near or in the center of Amsterdam, or, depending on the need, I can move to pretty much wherever in The Netherlands.

About the homework, I send it to the students on a weekly basis and encourage them to participate on competitions and summer music courses. As always, this is conditional on the pupil's stage.
