I have more than 5 years of professional experience in language tutoring and know what works and what does not. I have tutored high school and college students and have taught languages to students as young as 7 and as old as 63. My most rewarding language tutoring experience was teaching Dutch to Syrian refugees. Through them, I truly understood the importance of language and how it can connect people from across the world. My personal approach to language learning as a combination of learning how to speak quickly and truly understanding grammar. I try to integrate conversations in the target language from the first class, while at the same time teaching grammar in an accessible way. I understand that students often find grammar daunting, but with the right approach, it truly does not have to be. I do not believe in a "first learn, then apply" approach. When I teach, I want students to start engaging with the language from day one.
