Computer Science and Maths lessons for pupils in Y7-Y13

As a Gap Year Student, I offer a tutoring experience that provides a refreshingly different perspective to that provided by a teacher in the classroom. As the eldest sibling of five, I am confident in my ability to connect with a child. I fundamentally believe that academic achievement is not only represented by top marks but also by a true, deep understanding that allows items of knowledge to become skills, methods and patterns of thought that can be taken further and will benefit a student all of their life. This academic achievement is driven and fundamentally obtained through a passion for and enjoyment of learning. This is what I aim to inspire, represent and deliver in my sessions.

This course is focused around the AQA syllabus for GCSE Maths students- though it will helpful for any intermediate level student. The classes will use the CGP Exam Practice Workbooks as a guide but will be tailored towards whatever areas or concepts my students need to work on, or are curious to learn more about. Rather than just 'talking at' my students, I want to make sure they are involved- and I believe the best way to do that is working through questions together. I am a recent graduate of the University of Manchester, with a degree in Physics with Philosophy.

Math is a very important subject that will be useful in other subjects in the future. My sessions will depend upon age group and year group, but they will mostly consist of some maths activities and games, as well as quizzes, and of course the main teaching. Sessions are also open to interpretation, if there is something a student has been learning in class and needs some help with, this is possible!

I provide my private lessons in Limoges (at the student's home) or remotely (online via the internet). My distance learning courses take place on an interactive online whiteboard. This board is specially designed to promote student/teacher interaction on the internet. Thanks to this educational tool, my online courses are as effective as home courses. The student only needs an internet connection and a computer, tablet, or smartphone to take advantage of it.

I hold a PhD in Mechanical Engineering and currently work as a post-doctoral researcher in the Aerospace Engineering Faculty at TU Delft (Delft University of Technology). Python is one of the best, if not the best, language to start learning programming. It is also one of the most widely used languages today, especially in cutting-edge areas such as machine learning. This popularity means that Python is constantly evolving. It offers a wide range of tools and libraries, which are free and very varied. As an aeronautical engineer, I like to share my knowledge and derive satisfaction from it by teaching and motivating others. I'm used to working with people of different ages.
