This class is for anyone who wants to learn how to speak Dutch. During this class, we will focus mainly on practicing speaking Dutch. We will practice conversations based on your level and interests. It is therefore important that you set your own goals for the level of Dutch you want to achieve. Whether you want to learn a few basic phrases, prepare for your trip to a Dutch-speaking country, or you want to have more challenging conversations with a native Dutch speaker, I'm here to help you achieve that.

About Me

My name is Zoé and I'm a native Dutch speaker from Belgium. I'm currently a university student, studying politics and sociology. In my free time I enjoy reading, traveling, baking, discovering new cultures and learning new languages.

Even though I'm still a student myself, I've discovered that I truly enjoy helping others learn. Teaching Dutch allows me to share my language and culture which is incredibly rewarding. I know what it's like to learn a new language so I try to make my lessons relaxed and encouraging, while we focus on conversation, pronunciation and everyday Dutch. I adapt my lessons to each student's goals, whether you want to improve your speaking skills, learn some basic phrases or simply learn to chat in Dutch during your travels.

Learning a new language is a challenge, therefore making mistakes is totally normal and part of the learning process. So you can expect patience, encouragement and lessons that fit your level, pace and interests.

For the past two decades, I've had the privilege of tutoring in both French and English. My students have ranged in age, background, and origin, spanning children, teenagers, adults, professionals, and even seniors aged 85 and above.

You might wonder why I teach both languages. Well, I am bilingual, with American and Swiss/French roots, and I currently reside in Ireland. This unique blend of experiences equips me with a strong and relevant teaching approach. I possess an intimate understanding of both cultures, enabling me to tailor my classes to the specific needs of my students.

My teaching journey began during my time studying social work in French-speaking Switzerland. I started offering private French and English lessons to supplement my income, and I quickly discovered my passion for it. Even after graduating and embarking on a full-time career, I couldn't bear to give up this rewarding activity. I cherished the opportunity to connect with diverse individuals and assist them in achieving their language goals.

In my teaching methodology, interactivity takes center stage. I employ a variety of engaging learning tools, including photos, newspaper articles, music, videos, and more. My approach is highly adaptable, with a focus on addressing each student's unique priorities. Some seek to refine their pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary, while others require assistance with presentations or speeches for school or work. Some simply aspire to acquire a new language to enrich their general knowledge. I also specialize in teaching younger children, a testament to my educational background and experience.

Furthermore, I hold a degree in Early Childhood Education and have operated a private "Before & Afterschool" facility along with Summer Camps catering to children aged 4 to 12 for many years.

For adults, I offer online "Free Talk" classes. These classes are very popular and are ok for any age. I currently have a group class of people aged 60s to 80s. If you want to talk about daily life, news, hobbies, traveling, etc. and enjoy speaking English, then this is a good class to do it. Usually a 1-hour class is best as it gives plenty of time.
