David Minguillón began his musical studies on the piano at the age of 8, discovering the guitar 9 years later. Thanks to his first guitar teacher, the Brazilian Pedro Neto, he gained access to a diverse world of sounds, from blues to samba, from rock to singer-songwriters, as well as jazz and classical music. In 2001, he entered the Professional Music Conservatory of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, completing the intermediate level in 3 years (6 academic years) and obtaining a degree in classical guitar in 2010 at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Canarias. Later, he came into contact with flamenco guitar in Granada, where he worked regularly as a soloist at the Parador de La Alhambra. Later, he moved to Holland, where he obtained a master's degree in jazz guitar and collaborated on flamenco projects with guitarists Rezar Domínguez and Jerónimo Maya. In 2015, after winning the CajaCanarias Foundation scholarship, she began her second master's degree (Contemporary Performance, Production Concentration) at the prestigious Berklee School of Music in Valencia, where she took part in numerous projects with teachers such as Víctor Mendoza, Perico Sambeat, Mariano Steimberg, Sergio Martínez, Celia Mur, among others. During his stay in the Valencian Community, he became interested in the world of sound therapy, training with Rafa Monsonís and incorporating singing bowls into his instrumentation. He currently lives in Tenerife and combines his activity as a guitar concert performer with that of a sound therapist and educator. He has released five albums under his own name: “MEI” (2007), “PUERTO DEL MAR” (2014, with the participation of Jorge Pardo and Kike Perdomo, among others), “DIÁLOGO CON UN DUENDE” (2016, with the French pianist Baptiste Bailly), “SOUNDBATH” (2020) and “UNA NUEVA VIDA” (2021, solo guitar, recorded live). David Minguillón has performed in various venues in Europe and North Africa, such as Les Rencontres Méditerranéennes de la Guitare (Morocco), UNESCO (Paris, France), Igraj se z mano (Slovenia), Jazz à Vienne (France), Equals Fest (India), Jazz Maastricht (Netherlands), Teatro La Bombonière, Grupo Zyryab and special guest Jerónimo Maya (Netherlands), Teatro Aachen (Germany), Muze Jazz Club (Belgium), Tenerife International Film Festival, FIMUCITÉ (Spain), Valencia Mediterranean Festival, La Laguna Guitar Festival (Tenerife, Spain), Canarias Heineken Jazz & Más (Spain), among others. He has also recorded guitars for TVE series such as "Cuéntame" and has composed soundtracks, such as the one for the short film "Del fémur a la Luna" by Yolanda Mesa. I am an experienced and enthusiastic teacher and am adept at all varieties of guitar playing, including, classical, acoustic, electric and bass. Regarding my previous experience in tutoring, I have given 1000's of hours of guitar tuition both privately and in school settings. These experiences have given me a keen sense of how to motivate students and offer them concise and useful advice. I have worked at many excellent institutions in the past, including Streatham and Clapham Girls' School (one of the top private girls schools in the country), Orpington Music Studio, The Royal Arsenal School of Music and Canada Blanch Music Academy. I have found over my experiences of being taught and then eventually teaching that the best method for getting the most out of a student is to listen. If the tutor is acutely aware of where their student needs help and where they are already confident, they can tailor classes carefully to make the best use of the time allowed and to get the maximum potential out of them. This philosophy leads to classes being student-oriented, in that the student leads the tuition. The tutor acts as a supportive crutch, first working through problems together, then allowing them to explore it themselves with the tutor to lean back on. In my first years of training, like many others, I completed grades. Because of this I have a very good knowledge of what it takes to move along this system. However, the grade system should not be seen as the only way to learn an instrument. The same achievement can be gained through simple discussion between student and teacher and the correct prescription of pieces and studies to work on. Hello! My name is Jen and I am a session guitar and bass guitar player with over 10 years of professional experience. I have performed in a wide variety of bands, playing genres such as pop, rock, soul, jazz and folk, and using techniques like finger-style, slap, palm muting and picking. It is so important for people of all ages to learn new skills and discover methods of self expression - playing an instrument can be a gateway to enhancing children's development and future life skills. This is why I am so enthusiastic about teaching music to kids but also to anyone wanting to learn. I will listen to their needs and goals and personalise the process for each individual ensuring they get the most out of these sessions. I am eager to share and teach my knowledge of these wonderful instruments and inspire my students to have fun whilst playing and in turn, excel as a musician and performer! I also teach music theory as it is a pivitol part of understanding the instrument at harder levels. I believe it's really important to teach with the students goals in mind and so to begin with, I would have a conversation about where they are with their playing currently, where they want to be and what they want to primarily focus on.
