I lived in Japan for a year and a half, first as a Japanese studies student at Ochanomizu University and then as a trainee for Japanese language teachers at Japan Foundation Institute in Saitama. I've been around the Japanese language since 2008 and teaching it since 2012, individually and at private language schools. I also worked as a Japanese speaking tour-guide for around four years and occasionally worked as an interpreter. My teaching approach is focused on communication and based on real-life situations as I feel students get more motivated if they feel they can use their knowledge outside of the classroom. However, as a grammar freak, I can add a bit of extra focus on it if needed. She has gone above and beyond our expectations and she is always on point in helping me and my husband with understanding the Japanese culture, the people, the language, the places, the lifestyle….
