I am CEDILS-certified by Ca' Foscari University of Venice to teach Italian as a Second/Foreign Language. With 5 years of experience, I have worked with learners of all ages and levels. I use a variety of teaching methods, tools, and resources (readings, podcasts, writing exercises) to tailor my approach to each individual's interests and learning style. I believe that the best way to learn a language is to practice it, which is why I encourage learners to speak Italian in a relaxed atmosphere where mistakes are seen as learning opportunities.

Italian student offers a fun and serious language course at the same time, which adapts to the needs and level of each person. We will be able to work on different aspects of the language, from grammar to conversation. The exercises vary depending on the student's desires and age. The courses can be held in Italian, English or French. If the level allows it, the course is held in Italian, as far as possible, to offer a total immersion in the language.

I am an Italian teacher (my mother tongue) in a French high school and college. I hold a Master's degree with honors in Foreign Languages and Literatures (English and French) from the University of Bologna. I also studied Spanish for five years and lived and worked in Spain for two years, reaching C2 level. I have experience as a teacher of English for high school students, Spanish for migrants and as an educator in educational projects for children and adolescents with special needs. During these experiences, I was able to develop and perfect a method that was both didactic and educational, based on active listening to needs, trust and cooperation. When it comes to the material, I try to make it as dynamic and creative as possible, aware of the fact that language learning is more effective if placed in situational contexts and based on personal inclinations.

In this course, you will learn a range of linguistic methods and learn the terms used for describing a specific aspect of language or phenomenon (lexis, morphemes, and 'telegraphic stage' to give a few examples). The course requires you to explore your own data using quantitative and qualitative analysis (eg: how frequently are slang phrases used? Are there new auxiliaries being created?). No historical linguistics or literature is involved, but language change or specific traits will be sampled via your own data collection (if this is what is demanded in your course). As many students need to present a "year abroad" dissertation at University level (3rd year in the UK of a Modern Languages or Linguistics Undergraduate course) I can help you to research and structure your year abroad work, both in English (Linguistics) and Romance languages (French, Italian, Spanish). The topics that have arisen from recent discussions with students relate to French Caribbean writing, Italian resistance and reprisals in Rome (Fosse Ardiatine), and Spanish Etica franquista in films (among others).
