Hello everyone! I'm Giorgia and I come from Torino, Italy. I offer my native knowledge of Italian to any of you, who wants to discover this beautiful language. I teach for all levels, from very beginners to advanced speakers, passing through amateurs or simply curious of any age. I can also help with university exams and school works/assignments. Being a pianist and a piano teacher, I already have lots of experience with teaching and pedagogical approach with the whole range of ages. The lesson is intended to meet the student needs: the focus can be on the grammar, conversation or literature. In case of a middle-level speaker, the lesson will cover all four language's abilities: listening, speaking, writing and reading. My suggestion of a well planned lesson is, for any level, to divide it into two parts: grammar first and then conversation (covering all the abilities mentioned above). I offer classes on History, Geography, and Political Science, with over 11 years' of experience in these subjects, both professionally and academically. I hold Bachelor's Degrees in both History and Political Science (from the University of Florida), as well as a Master's in Political Science, specifically European Politics (from KU Leuven). I have extensive experience in a wide range of historical and political subjects and have always had a keen interest in history and the social sciences. Additionally, previously I have been a journalist (dealing with Competition Law) and currently am an editor working on a wide variety of subjects for organizations such as the UNHCR and Goethe Institut, among others. In this course, you will learn a range of linguistic methods and learn the terms used for describing a specific aspect of language or phenomenon (lexis, morphemes, and 'telegraphic stage' to give a few examples). The course requires you to explore your own data using quantitative and qualitative analysis (eg: how frequently are slang phrases used? Are there new auxiliaries being created?). No historical linguistics or literature is involved, but language change or specific traits will be sampled via your own data collection (if this is what is demanded in your course). As many students need to present a "year abroad" dissertation at University level (3rd year in the UK of a Modern Languages or Linguistics Undergraduate course) I can help you to research and structure your year abroad work, both in English (Linguistics) and Romance languages (French, Italian, Spanish). By reading it regularly, progress will be faster. For help with writing: The objective is above all to acquire effective tools.
