This class is for anyone who wants to learn how to speak Dutch. During this class, we will focus mainly on practicing speaking Dutch. We will practice conversations based on your level and interests. It is therefore important that you set your own goals for the level of Dutch you want to achieve. Whether you want to learn a few basic phrases, prepare for your trip to a Dutch-speaking country, or you want to have more challenging conversations with a native Dutch speaker, I'm here to help you achieve that.

About Me

My name is Zoé and I'm a native Dutch speaker from Belgium. I'm currently a university student, studying politics and sociology. In my free time I enjoy reading, traveling, baking, discovering new cultures and learning new languages.

Even though I'm still a student myself, I've discovered that I truly enjoy helping others learn. Teaching Dutch allows me to share my language and culture which is incredibly rewarding. I know what it's like to learn a new language so I try to make my lessons relaxed and encouraging, while we focus on conversation, pronunciation and everyday Dutch. I adapt my lessons to each student's goals, whether you want to improve your speaking skills, learn some basic phrases or simply learn to chat in Dutch during your travels.

Learning a new language is a challenge, therefore making mistakes is totally normal and part of the learning process. So you can expect patience, encouragement and lessons that fit your level, pace and interests.

As non-Dutch speaking parents, it is certainly not easy to teach your children Dutch or help them become more fluent in the new language. Who wants some extra exercise for their kids? I would like to help you with that. As their vocabulary expands and their sentences become more fluent, your children will become more confident. For the past two decades, I've had the privilege of tutoring in both French and English. My students have ranged in age, background, and origin, spanning children, teenagers, adults, professionals, and even seniors aged 85 and above.

You might wonder why I teach both languages. Well, I am bilingual, with American and Swiss/French roots, and I currently reside in Ireland. My teaching journey began during my time studying social work in French-speaking Switzerland. For adults, I offer online "Free Talk" classes. These classes are very popular and are ok for any age. I currently have a group class of people aged 60s to 80s. If you want to talk about daily life, news, hobbies, traveling, etc. and enjoy speaking English, then this is a good class to do it. Usually a 1-hour class is best as it gives plenty of time. If a shorter, or longer, class is better for you I can do that too. Just ask :)
