Be taught in world, European or Dutch history-exam making and essay writing in English or Dutch!

History and politics have always been a passion of mine and I am very much willing to teach anyone who desires any tutoring. At times it can be very difficult and overwhelming if you need to make an exam or write an essay - I can be there to help in case you need guidance! The goal here would be to make you understand history better, organize patterns in your head and possibly make you love the subject! This should definitely help in either expanding your worldview, or enhancing your history grades. I am willing to teach history (or politics/maatschappijleer) in Dutch or English.

I have little preference in regard to eras or themes in history, but if you must know I especially enjoy political and military macro-history. The grand patterns throughout history fascinate me, with of course, attention to large events. No era or area is particularly strange to me, again, being able to process history is the goal here!

The grand goal is to get a basic, intermediate or advanced understanding in one of the subjects. I could, possibly, rehearse with you and ask you how fluent you are in the topics at hand. I am fully willing to adapt to the student his or her academic needs. In case you wish me to help you in structuring or writing a history essay, then this, too is no problem!

Extra information

If the student has a textbook him or herself and follows a specific course, then this would be more than ideal. If not, then this is not a problem if you can tolerate third-party sources.
If you do wish to be tutored by me then expect tons of maps being drawn and me going over the duration-time (just kidding), since, well I do really enjoy history.

About Me

Hello there! I am an International Relations student born in the Netherlands. Currently I live in Leiden and am very much willing to bike back and forth to your place in order to tutor you - I'd do this with great pleasure! In order to gain experience in teaching and in doing so talk about my passions, I am very much excited over the possibility to teach you.

I happen to know English fluently and I was born and raised with Dutch. History is by far my biggest passion and I study it with great love. Despite this, I know how tough those exams can be! I am fully willing to adapt to your style of learning and going with it because after all, a style of learning must be learnt but cannot be forced on someone. Because of that I will challenge you, but only in the form that suits with you.

I have studied law in Groningen for a year and am currently pursuing a Bachelor Degree at Leiden University.

Joost is a very patient and knowledgeable teacher, he has been helping me practicing my dutch! Always on time.
Joost is punctual, well mannered and knowledgeable. He is patient and has adapted the lesson to my son's specific need. He is doing a great job.
This class, specifically, is for people who are not native Dutch speakers and wish to sharpen their skills. The level you are on now does not matter, if anything, the less you know the more room there is for improvement! I have been tutoring and teaching Dutch for quite some time and have therefore gained a significant amount of experience. I am very much willing to take the time and make you grow step by step. Or, if by any chance, you need one-time help with for example an assignment then this is fine too!

History / geopolitics course - College and high school level
Three principles govern my teaching: - Taking into account the student's expectations - A very personalized follow-up: I work with you on the points which are not clear to you! - The structuring of my lessons: I work several hours before each lesson. In each class, I explain the key concepts to the program, we then apply these ideas in a concrete way (oral, written exercises) and finally I make a summary. Having completed my training in CPGE BL for two years, I am able to give the keys to historical and geopolitical understanding to any college and high school student.

Learn Polish for everyday use, university, tourism with FUN and passion
I am a native speaker of Polish. I attended a Polish primary and secondary school and recently obtained a C2 exam. During our lessons, I'll help you develop your skills (oral/written, and not only). I'll also try to help you improve your pronunciation and understand those complex noun cases and verbs. I assign homework and after I receive it, correct it thoroughly additionally providing a lot of remarks/examples if they are necessary. I worked at a language center between 2009-2016 where I was a director of studies and taught mainly English as a foreign/second language. Since 2005, when I first started teaching Polish, I have taught children and adults on a variety of language proficiency levels and with a variety of needs, mainly individually. I constantly seek progress, meaning that I study further through reading books/articles concerning didactics/methodology and learning difficulties (chiefly dyslexia), observing other teachers as well as attending seminars (online or face-to-face). During my lessons I use : - Skype/Whatsapp/Messenger to connect with you, - Google Docs to keep notes, which you can check at any time and they are yours to keep, - sketch board me to make mind maps to show connections between ideas, etc. - books, PPP, word docs, diagrams, pics, etc. - pronunciation/spelling/grammar games, - authentic materials were taken from websites. I adore my profession and desire each and every one of my students be satisfied with the lesson. That's why I make sure the atmosphere is stress-free and nice. I also want my lessons to be as effective and close to real-life needs as possible. Therefore, I make sure they are well-prepared, although they can be altered at any point, should such an opportunity arise. I like explaining things in a variety of ways as well as make use of dictionaries, diagrams, etc. When it comes to students who want to obtain certificates, I am very demanding. What can I teach? - I would love to help you improve/develop all language skills (speaking/writing-listening/reading + grammar/vocabulary/pronunciation), - I can prepare you for state certificates such as A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2, - I would love to help you with homework and assignments (literature, history) from school and university (but please contact me about that IN ADVANCE).

International Baccalaureate Higher Level History. (Essay Writing for Papers 1, 2 and 3)
History Higher Level can be an extremely challenging class, not only incorporating the skill of essay writing but also that of memorising swathes of facts. As a recent graduate of the IB Diploma who achieved a 7 in History HL, I know exactly what it takes to achieve the top grades. I have designed my course to gradually build upon essay structure, planning and writing as skills. We will begin by identifying weak points in your own technique and then tailor the course to what suits your needs. I will help you to be able to be prepared for a myriad of different exam topics which may show up and provide you with exam techniques which are essential for reaching the higher grades. I will assign homework for some lessons to track your progress.

History is first of all the sources. Let us pay attention to this side of historical knowledge, to its critical examination and to what has already been done in this area by historiography. At the same time, I am ready to work in the format of school history (history as narration) while ensuring the critical analysis of its logic.
