I specialise in teaching the English language for both adults and children. I also specialise in teaching Reading, Writing and Math in the English language for school and the SAT, GED, GRE and GMAT exams.

I am a creative practitioner, with a dynamic and enthusiastic approach. I ensure my lessons are enjoyable and I use the latest resources to plan challenging and engaging lessons.

I track the progress of my students and use effective assessment techniques, to find the learning gaps in my student's knowledge and understanding, and then plan precision lessons that target these. As a result, my students always make accelerated progress and often achieve better than expected results

About Me
Hello, I'm Salma. I am an educationalist, teacher and tutor with over ten years experience tutoring students through school examinations and to academic success.

As an Ofsted-graded 'outstanding' teacher I have lead Literacy and Science teams, helped create in-school curriculums and trained teachers and staff in effective Literacy lessons, behaviour management and creativity in the classroom.

I have tutored many children and teenagers, helping them at different stages of their schooling. From teaching Reading to underachieving year 1 children, to supporting secondary school students in their Math and Science examinations, I bring with me the latest resources in education and techniques to ensure success.

My lessons are always engaging and fun. I challenge my students and push them to expand their knowledge and understanding. Targeting different learning styles, I use a variety of different activities and visual and aural materials to bring the subject to life. I am passionate about developing young learners' love for learning and confidence to achieve.

After tutoring for over 6 years in the Amsterdam area, I am very familiar with the various school curriculums. Having moved around quite a bit, I understand the stress students undergo adapting to new schooling systems. I enjoy working privately with students to build their confidence. I previously was a primary school teacher of all subjects (Grades 1&2) for a private international school in Dubai. I am familiar with international school curriculum and challenges faced by students when moving to a new country.

I have extensive experience with students of all learning levels. I have been privately tutoring for over 10 years now. English is my first language (I am American). I also have experience tutoring at a higher age (as well as university level). I am an excellent writer, editor, and researcher and work part time in UVA's graduate school in the sociology department. I completed my MSc at UVA and undergraduate at UCLA.

Currently, the majority of my students are primary school students who attend the British school or ISA. However, I teach a large number of international school students or older students. I also tutor many students, of various ages, in the Dutch schooling system. I am very comfortable with international school curriculums, however, I also have a good grasp on the Dutch schooling system. While I teach students of various ages and backgrounds, I would consider myself a specialist in primary school students whose second language is English.
