Trusted teacher: My name is Helena Sousa and I am a professional musician. I have done my Bachelor and Master of Music in Spain and France, respectively, and now I work as a freelance musician in The Netherlands since December 2017. As a hard-working and active person, I am encouraged to show how music works and how it is essential in life, doing different activities with the student such as listening to music, doing body percussion with different rhythms, singing or playing the instrument. All of these are important activities to develop the skills of the student such as coordination, attention or discipline, along with the most important thing: enjoying music as a fundamental part of life. I offer accordion lessons for students of all levels in Rotterdam, as well as Skype lessons. Thank you!

Trusted teacher: Do you want to learn to play the accordion? Or are you already more advanced and would you like some extra challenge and depth? Then you've come to the right place. I guide young and old, beginner and advanced through the world of accordion. You don't have to be able to read notes yet, we'll go step by step together. The very first lesson we get to know each other and discuss your wishes. I mainly work with sheet music. When choosing sheet music, I follow the level and musical interests of each student (folk music, French chanson, classical music…) After all, there is something for everyone!
Bandoneon is a very well know instrument for playing tango, in fact it's part of the genre's DNA. However, not many people know that the instrument was constructed in Germany and some people even say it was supposed to be used as an portable organ. This means that the Bandoneon has a technique that is independent of any genre. This technique is not found by coping other instruments such as the organ or keyboard but through the development of the nature of the instrument. This is mainly the importance of the air and how it is affected by the pulling and the movement we make when we play. Of course Tango will be an important axis of the lessons as it very important for the development of the instrument and for specific techniques but Tango won't be the starting point as it's not the best pedagogical tool for learning the instrument. But no worries, we'll get there ;) Have you ever wondered how a Gregorian chant, Bach, Mozart & Chopin might sound in the bandoneon? The results might surprise as you would get a very different sound from the one you are originally used to. Also, we can try and use the bandoneon for different and new genres, who knows what we might discover from the instrument along the way?

Trusted teacher: Accordion is beautiful and interesting instrument which can play many genres in music (classical, jazz, rock, folk...). It´s not only solo instrument but you can see and hear it also in chamber group with all other instruments. If you are interested in playing accordion, don´t hesitate and let´s start to play! It´s a lot of fun and very cool. I give lesson 60 minutes and for the beginning I use my own materials, but if someone has already some tutor book I don´t see any problem. I always ask what people want to play, what kind of music they like or what is their reason and goal. I´m very open for everything and I also like to play with pupils together so they never feel alone. Together we can make a beautiful music.
