Learn & Practice & Talk Turkish & English with Başak, who is an Experienced and Patient Teacher for Adults and Kids, Online/In-Person LessonTranslate this text using Google Translate.

I was born in Istanbul in 1983. I started teaching Turkish while studying Turkish Language and Literature at university. I worked in a language school and at universities. I have been teaching Turkish professionally for more than 16 years. I also taught Turkish for 5 years when I was a university student. In 2018, I obtained a TESOL certificate and also began teaching English. I teach both adults and children. Creating a comfortable learning environment for my students is one of my top priorities. If you would like to learn Turkish or English in a consistent and structured way, I would be happy to work with you. I hold firmly to two main principles: creating a comfortable space for learning and building an encouraging atmosphere. My students often describe me as patient, positive, and well-organised. Over time, I’ve found my own way of making Turkish feel easier, more enjoyable, and more practical to learn. I love shaping each lesson around my students’ interests, needs, and learning styles. I adapt my teaching to the needs of students with special conditions, such as ADHD and OCD. In my lessons, you’ll never feel afraid of making mistakes. Before long, you’ll start noticing them on your own and correcting yourself naturally. Even though I use a communicative approach, my lessons are supported by a solid understanding of grammar, as Turkish has a very different structure. I use the course book set prepared by Istanbul University. It follows a strategic approach to learning Turkish and includes all language skills—reading, grammar, writing, listening, watching, and speaking—from A1 to C2. All of these skills are essential for conversation. I teach English for the A1 and A2 levels. The workbook offers many exercises for homework or revision, and I support the book with my own authentic materials. I also use an interactive board that you can view anytime, and you can edit it as well. Repetition-based speaking practice plays an important role in my lessons. I speak English well, and a bit of Italian, and I have also studied Persian and German grammar. I am interested in literature. One-on-one lessons on Apprentus are just for you. Are you ready to see the benefits and start speaking right away? We will not forget to smile while doing fun and interesting lessons! :) Thank you, and I look forward to meeting you!

Kopuz Lessons (Online / In-Person) with a Master EducatorTranslate this text using Google Translate.

I have been playing the kopuz since childhood and have spent many years performing as a professional musician. To refine my technique and deepen my understanding of this ancient, mystical instrument, I had the privilege of attending masterclasses with the legendary master musician Erkan Oğur. Today, combining my 25 years of teaching experience with my professional background, I am passionate about passing this deep musical heritage on to my students. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced player, I tailor my teaching to your unique pace. Thanks to my custom-built analog home studio, you will experience crystal-clear audio quality during our online sessions, ensuring you hear every subtle nuance. What We Will Cover in Our Lessons: Fundamental & Advanced Techniques: Mastering arpeggios, slurs (hammer-ons and pull-offs), and precise right/left-hand articulation. Microtones & Maqam Theory: Understanding the commas and microtonal structures unique to Anatolian and Eastern music. The Art of Improvisation: Developing your own musical voice through structured improvisation and traditional phrasing. Harmony Applications: Integrating traditional melodies with broader harmonic concepts. Alternate Tunings (Düzenler): Exploring different tunings to unlock the full acoustic potential of the kopuz. Repertoire Building: Progressing from foundational traditional pieces to complex, advanced compositions step-by-step.

“ I am following a class with Başak to learn turkish. The lessons are held in english. This course covers pronunciation, grammar and free speaking which are also adapted to daily life situations as well as speaking about yourself. I have experienced a very well organized and structured teacher on a professional basis. The teacher gives clear instructions, pays attention to the pronunciation and corrects you when needed, which is crucial for the turkish pronunciation. The course fees contain the tuition as booked and course material as the class is accompanied by a book (workbook and exercise book) and audio files. The books are sent to you in advance, makes it very convenient to take a print out or as a digital version on your tablet/PC/phone. Between the lessons homework will be assigned and checked by her via mail and discussed in the next lesson. So far, I am very happy with the lessons and I am also confident that I will improve my turkish steadily in the future with her. Thanks ”
