I like to keep it varied - a fun lesson but with loads of grammar improvement, vocabulary but also games to consolidate these. Lessons are tailor-made to what you want. I use several books and methods to make your lesson topnotch. I teach online via Zoom or here in my home. Every lesson of 50 min I sent all details home so you can revise what we have done and you can see your homework.

I am a Certified Teacher of Dutch as an Additional Language and I have a University Degree in teaching Dutch Language and Literature from Leiden University. I have specialized in teaching Dutch as a Second Language at Hogeschool Amsterdam.

I have lived abroad for 17 years so know a lot of living abroad. Having been an expatriate myself I like teaching people from other cultures. I speak good English and have some understanding of German, French and Spanish.
I have been teaching Dutch since 1995 in the States - in Iowa - and since 2016 in Leiden - when I came back from living in Scotland, South East Asia and the States - in my own little company Doses of Dutch. Since 2019 I teach two groups of students in Wassenaar for four mornings a week as well.

Usually people buy a package of ten lessons.

Ik ben docent Nederlands en gespecialiseerd in Nederlands als tweede taal. Ik ben zelf lang expat geweest, dus weet hoe het is om in het buitenland te wonen.
Ik geef les in het Taalhuis in de bieb in Wassenaar en geef privélessen.
Ik geef kinderen vanaf 9 jaar les en volwassenen (zowel online via Zoom als aan huis).
Ik geef al les aan anderstaligen si ds mijn studie tijd, in het buitenland en sinds 2015 in Leiden.

Leiden University (Dutch Language and Literature) and Hogeschool van Amsterdam (specialty Dutch as Second Language). Very good English skills (lived abroad for 15 years) and some French and German and Spanish.

Expérience / Qualifications

Sinds 1994 - experience both abroad as in Leiden. Certificated in Dutch as Second Language. Lived in Asia, USA and Scotland as expatriate - so experience in living and teaching abroad.
Both experience in teaching basic Dutch and in B1-B2 Dutch with several nationalities.

To live and reside in the Netherlands a certain level of Dutch is not only handy but also necessary if you want to have a job. As part of the process to become a Dutch national, you need a basic level of Dutch, being A1 to B2.

I am a certified Dutch teacher with 6 years of teaching experience. Besides teaching Dutch to Dutch high -school pupils in the years 1- 4 mavo/ havo/ vwo, I also have extensive experience teaching Dutch to expats/ foreigners.
I am therefore familiar with the “inburgeringsexamen” and the NT2 curriculum (Dutch for foreigners) for those who want to reside in the Netherlands.

I am very knowledgeable and teach with passion, creativity and enthousiasm. I love the Dutch language and teaching it to others, as well as interacting with all types of cultures and age ranges.

Could your son or daughter use some support with (reading comprehension), spelling, grammar or arithmetic? Let me help! I have worked as a remedial teacher in primary education for the past three years. I have helped students individually or in small groups with reading, spelling and arithmetic. I know the learning objectives and the reading comprehension method. I use the Kernvisie method, among other things, to strengthen the basics of reading, spelling and arithmetic. Think of: the alphabet, counting, sums up to 20, tables, spelling rules. The basics are so important!

Do you want extra support with mathematics in the lower grades of pre-university education and upper grades of senior general secondary education or
in math and language at primary school? For example, for your school advice?
I have a lot of experience with tutoring. The lessons can also be given online if desired, or somewhere in a public location that is convenient. Students on their way to their cito test for math and language, or for their school tests can come to me.

When you come to live in the Netherlands as a foreigner, it is important that you have a good command of the language. Speaking skills first where listening skills are indispensable.
We will get to work so that you can manage in the Dutch language. Together we will see what is needed for this.

I have an NT-2 certificate and experience as an NT-2 teacher for small groups.

Do you need an mvv? And do you want to live with your partner in the Netherlands or work as a spiritual minister? Then, before you apply for a provisional residence permit (mvv), you must first pass the basic integration exam abroad.

I will help you prepare for the complete exam!
- Speaking (Speaking skills)
The speaking exam consists of 2 parts:
1 you hear a question and give an answer.
2. You hear a sentence and you complete it.
- Reading (Reading skills)
You will receive a number of reading texts and answer multiple choice questions about those texts.
- Knowledge of Dutch Society (KNS)
For the KNS section you must memorize 100 easy questions and answers.

You take all three tests on the computer. You don't have to be able to write.

Together we will go through each part and practice pronunciation and reading skills and see how many lessons you are ready for the exam. On average, 5 lessons are sufficient if you practice at home.
We use NaarNederland.nl as well as the teaching material that I have specially compiled for the exam.
At the end of the course you will easily pass the basic exam. I just take you one level higher.

After the course you will have comfortably achieved the A1 level.
