I am very patient and flexible in my lessons! :) I choose materials according to the needs and progress of each student and teach them both piano performance and basic music theory at the same time.

Born in Japan, pianist Mako has performed the piano, fortepiano and harpsichord and organ as a soloist, chamber musician and accompanist in Japan, Germany and Netherlands. She has extensive experience as an educator, having studied music education in Japan and obtained a certificate to teach music in middle school and high school in Japan, and has taught piano in Japan, Germany, and the Netherlands. She had also worked at a Japanese language supplementary school in Germany and is flexible to accommodate international children.

The moment of engagement between the performer and the listener it is the most intense feeling I’ve ever felt. It is a very unexpected moment, it just happens and there you are holding your instrument in front of people you are sharing your performance with. Suddenly everyone is waiting for you to continue the story you have been telling and everyone is just at the same time on the same place and you have what they need: a message they want to hear and they know you will share it with them. So once you do you reach that sensation, that moment, and what happens afterwards it is magic! It is absolutely wonderful how one, a hundred or even thousands of humans can be on hold for the same message and once it is delivered they just feel it the same exactly way as you do.

This sensation is not only happening on a performance but also on a teaching situation. I’ve been teaching for some year from children to adults and I discovered that if you put all your energy all your love and passion and you give it all as a teacher or as a student you can reach this magical communication levels! Which makes a lesson such an experience! That is why as a teacher I am mostly focused on creativity and trough it the discoveries of your instrument always basing this process on your goals and ambitions which are the most important pillars of a musician!!

Shortly, I have never stopped studying since I was 8 years old, I’ve graduated on classical percussion on Jazz vibraphone and currently finishing my masters on how to play vibraphone and Keys at the same time. Trough this time i’ve being participating with classical orchestras ( Orquesta Gaos, Joven orquesta sinfonica de Galicia,...) on different percussion festivals as a player and as a teacher ( Perkulliria, FIP Agolada,...) and on many different style bands ( Skarallaos, GHASS, Fhree, Qando Vand,...). Currently working with MAMIHLAPINATAPAI a very personal world music project here in The Netherlands.

I started playing the piano when I was 8 years old. By that time I already could feel I would become a professional musician and teacher. I got my first bachelor in piano in 2007. When I was 13 years old, I started having harpsichord lessons and expanding my knowledge of classical and early music. In 2012 I got my bachelor degree in harpsichord and in 2014 my master degree at the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague. Currently, I’m working with my ensemble, teaching piano and harpsichord, and am now doing my Ph.D. in Performative Arts at Leiden University

I absolutely love to teach and pass my experience as a musician to my students on both instruments. I like to see them improving and have fun while playing.
I work with several ways of teaching, depending on the student level and music background.

Normally I work with piano methods with kids from 9 -12 years old. I can teach music theory if necessary and if it will improve the student’s needs to progress and reach their goals, I do that with pleasure. Harmony and a bit of keyboard improvisation are also very welcome to the class.

My specialty is classical music, more specifically, baroque music, although I have notions of pop, jazz, and improvisation. Because I have sporting and personal training backgrounds, I’m specialized also on correcting postures and eventually avoid or solve pain issues when regarding playing.

I am a professional classical musician with years of teaching experience in the UK. Teaching is a passion for me and I always strive to find the best possible teaching approach suitable for the student. I always care about the big themes of learning and teaching and I apply a selection trusted method to my lessons.

I obtained my Jazz Music Master's program at the Prince Claus Conservatoire of Groningen in June 2022.
Previously, in 2018, I graduated from my music Bachelor's at the Conservatorio Superior de Música del Liceu in Barcelona (Spain).

The piano has been with me for a long time. I love to teach everything I learn.
I adapt to all levels. It doesn't matter if there is no experience!

This is because when playing it we can get all kinds of characters and sounds: very deep basses or super soft high notes; delicate melodies or dense harmonies (almost like an orchestra sometimes). This is one of the reasons why I love to play the piano, its versatility adapts to my everyday mood.

Lessons
Every student is different, and by saying this I mean that I prepare every lesson specifically for each student. Some might be more shy, others might need more time to acknowledge some questions.
I believe that music (much like everything else) should be taught with patience and motivation.
You shouldn’t feel like you’re going against time, it should be the opposite. As a teacher, I always give priority to your motivation and excitement regarding the lesson’s activity. If I see that a student is not enjoying the lesson I have to improvise and turn it around.

When teaching, the most important thing for me is that you learn while having fun.
I have already some years of experience in giving piano lessons to people of all ages. I adapt the lesson content for every student individually, and I always give them the freedom to follow their musical taste and instincts. I also give a lot of focus to creativity and improvisation.
At the end of the lesson, I usually save a few minutes for the student to decide what he/she wants to do: maybe a little 4-hand improvisation, or maybe play a piece they have already learned and that they enjoy playing.

About me
Most of my studies and experience as a teacher took place in Portugal. I completed my Bachelor's Degree in Piano Performance in 2020.
I moved to The Netherlands in 2020 to attend the Master Program in Classical Piano Performance in the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague.
My academic studies were built on classical music but I also have some experience in pop and rock music.

I am a student at the Koninklijk Conservatorium in the Early Music department, the beautiful and special instrument Harpsichord is my main subject and my passion. I am offering harpsichord, piano and solfège, lessons, on top of music theory for beginners and intermediate levels at home and also online.

Age does not matter when it comes to learning, just enjoying it. Lessons for beginners to more advanced students.
Always trying to keep a creative environment where the students can express themselves in all aspects.
I believe that it is necessary to be constant. The ideal would be one hour or hour and a half a week, but that depends on the student availability. I would provide a personal adaptation.

I like playing games, singing and coming up to most creative solutions for learning fast inside of a save space for questions and imagination of the student. It is very important to motivate the students regarding to their music tastes.

I consider myself an involved and motivated musician. I am constantly trying to learn new styles and enjoy so much doing it. At the moment I am studying my second bachelor degree in music, specifically in Early Music.

I am very flexible with schedules for lessons so coming to a common point should not be very difficult.

I am from Cuba and I am graduated from the Royal Conservatory of the Hague with a Master degree in Classical Double bass.I am currently doing the Academy of NederlandPhilharmonic and Kamerorkest I have been in the world of Classical music since 15 years ago having a complete education in Piano, Theory music double bass and Music History. Since I arrived in the Hague (almost 4 years ago) I started to teach the piano to kids and It has been wonderful to see how they progress and how fast they learn it. I am from Cuba and I am graduated from the Royal Conservatory of the Hague with a Master degree in Classical Double bass.I am currently doing the Academy of NederlandPhilharmonic and Kamerorkest I have been in the world of Classical music since 15 years ago having a complete education in Piano, Theory music double bass and Music History. Since I arrived in the Hague (almost 4 years ago) I started to teach the piano to kids and It has been wonderful to see how they progress and how fast they learn it. I have been focus in looking better ways to start teaching them in order to keep them motivated them. You can choose one or both of the following subjects: Harmony (chords/scales, tonalities/progressions, modulations, etc.) and/or Solfeggio (rhythm/auditory skills, pitch/sight-reading).

The method I use also has an online audio (play along), so you can also play/sing the pieces at home with the accompaniment - online audio: Classical and/or pop/jazz, etc.

There's also the opportunity to learn about Harmony and Keyboard Voicings (chords/harmony and chord melody). These methods can be put into practice with Harmony Progressions (including with your own compositions/songs, etc.) to see how Harmony works with the concept of Functional Harmony and beyond.

We discuss where your musical preference lies and which way we are going. In any case, fun is paramount!

Classes are for all levels and ages. Online classes are also available via WhatsApp, etc.
