I am a student studying classical viola in the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. I like to teach and share my passion of music amongst others. My violin lessons are shaped in relation to the student's age, goals and interests. I have experience in teaching to children as well as adults and I like the student to have fun while learning such a wonderful thing as playing music. If you are a beginner I'll start with the basic theory, but always in combination with practical approach on the instrument. I'm mostly working with classical music, but I'm also into other genres and I'm very open to help you in any way I can. I can teach in english and in Italian (working on the dutch!) and I can't provide the violin, but I can give some suggestions about where and how to find it. Please contact me if interested!

I offer private, one to one viola and violin lessons where I encourage technical and musical development for musicians who are currently learning at an intermediate to high level. As a teacher I tailor my lessons for the specific needs of the individual by listening attentively and giving new perspectives to help you flourish. I look at the way you use your instrument to help you refine your technical capabilities in order to become free in your expression. I also encourage using intuition in combination with intellectual understanding of the music that you are playing. I believe that each person has their own way of creating, listening and connecting to music, and playing the viola/violin is a wonderful way of exploring it. Having started my studies on violin and moved to the viola as a teenager, I had the experience of learning how to shift my technical approach to and from each instrument so that I could feel comfortable and best express the music. I would love to help you build your love and passion for making music. If you are interested, I offer a consultation lesson to see if we would be a good fit and from there we can agree on a way to work together. I can give three to four lessons a month, however it is unlikely that they can be scheduled at the exact same time weekly, therefore they need to be booked relatively far in advance.

My goal is that you come out of the lessons feeling inspired and enriched by music and of course, trying to enjoy together. There is no need to have a minimum level for the lessons, whether you are a beginner or have an advanced level for violin-viola or Music theory, my lessons will be adapted to your needs and desires to get the best out of each student. Greetings! I am currently studying viola performance and education at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. I also completed a Diploma in Music Education and Performance at the Royal Irish Academy of Music before coming to The Netherlands. I have had lots of experience teaching in schools and privately, and I get so much joy teaching people and helping them learn an instrument. My main goal as a teacher is to help students find their passion and love for music and for playing an instrument. I am also very practical in my approach to teaching, always trying to make things as clear as possible for each and every student to understand. I have plenty of experience teaching people of all ages. I also have a good knowledge of individual personalities and temperament which helps me to tailor the lesson to suit you individually. When teaching young children, I find that using various different games with and without the instrument helps a lot with their understanding and development. This resonates well with their impressive abilities to play for many hours every day - something which I think is very important for young children to make the most of while they have it. My understanding of the lessons is that every student should come out with the best feeling of wanting to improve their playing, and I always try to motivate every student in whichever way works best for them. I am also very open to using different approaches when it is not working for the student, and I am known to listen very well to feedback like this. I am flexible with the styles of music I teach and have experience in many different genres. If you need some ideas, together we can find the music that suits you best. The majority of students who start out do so on the violin, and some change to viola some time later. Some students who begin their musical journey on the violin go on to play not only viola but other stringed instruments such as cello and double bass if they grow away from the violin at any stage - so choosing violin in the beginning will certainly give you the most options.

SING WITH MARIO! The 45-minute vocal performance class (held in a studio room) entails a multidimensional approach that focuses on vocal technique, performative mindset and artistic skills for singers, also offering numerous opportunities for vocal competitions around the world (through the World Association of Performing Arts, WAPA). In addition to Mario's 17 years of experience on stage and on camera, he has professional experience as a vocal coach. A lesson with Mario begins with vocal warm-up exercises (10 minutes); then, all vocal/performative/artistic skills are being taught through singing a song of the child/teenager's choice (30 minutes). The class ends with evaluation, advice and suggestion of exercises (5 minutes) so that the student can practice at home until the next class. If you are a parent and would like to introduce your child to the art of music, Mario will create a fun learning environment and make the classes interesting, dynamic and entertaining. Water, tea, candies, or any other drink/snacks that your child would like will be provided for inspiration! If you are a teenager, Mario will make sure to align your personal/professional goals and visions with the content and focus of the classes. LET YOUR SOUL SING!

You'll learn how to use the voice in the proper way, starting by your natural speech and developing it to find your own sound. I have experience in both Pop and Jazz styles (a Bachelor in Jazz Singing and a degree in Jazz Composition), so it's possible to study songs from both this repertoires. I also give Music Theory Lessons, to make the student develop his/her own style and musical sensibility and, in the case of Jazz, to know how to improvise on different chord changes and jazz styles.
