About Me
Jan graduated in jazz piano and modern music performance at the Conservatori del Liceu (2020). Later he pursued a master's degree at the Royal Conservatory The Hague (Netherlands) obtaining a distinction. During his studies in the Netherlands, he did and interchange program at the USC Thornton School of Music in Los Angeles (USA). Throughout his studies, he has been tutored by important pianists such as Alan Pascua, Albert Bover, Marco Mezquida, Rob van Bavel, Ignasi Terraza, Wolfert Brederode and Jozef Dumoulin; and has received several grants from the Sociedad de Artistas, Interpretes y Ejectutantes (AIE). He has been part of the Sant Andreu Jazz Band, la Màgia de la Veu, World Stage Big Band (Los Angeles), Rik Mol's Aspire Band, and George Povey Ensemble big band.
He has recorded more than 30 albums, including his debut album: Joan Chamorro presents Jan (2020), his first album as a leader with his own compositions The Magical Forest Tour (2022), and his first duo album with the singer Paula Barranco.
He has shared stages with great jazz performers such as Scott Robinson, Dick Oatts, Scott Hamilton, Joel Frahm, Luigi Grasso, Perico Sambeat, Chris Cheek, Yo-Yo Ma and Joe Magnarelli.
