Do you love the elegance of Sino-Japanese characters and would like to start writing them yourself? You've come to the right place. I offer introductory and practical classes in shodo (the way of writing). Contrary to popular belief, Sino-Japanese calligraphy is not just about ink and brushes. It's also about body posture and a focused state of mind. Once you've mastered the posture, we'll begin to explore how to write a Sino-Japanese character. I'll introduce you to a different way of thinking about writing, with precise rules adapted to the brush tool, not the pen.

My name is Dominique, I am a qualified teacher in visual and plastic arts and a Doctor in Art History. Art in its many forms is a passion for me and I am delighted to share this passion online or in person with you. I have 20 years of experience in the field of plastic and visual arts, having taught this subject for more than twenty years and having trained students in university artistic studies. I also have a Doctorate in Art History from the Montpellier Academy and I have a cutting, sewing and pattern making certificate and a French Foreign Language (FLE) diploma. I consider that theory and artistic practice nourish each other. Over the years, I have worked with students of different levels and witnessed their artistic progress which represents a constant source of inspiration. My main goal is to create a learning environment where you will feel encouraged to express your creativity, explore new techniques and develop your own style. My experience has shown that each student has a unique potential that deserves to be developed. I firmly believe that art is a form of personal communication and I am here to guide you on this journey. We will work with mediums such as painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, but also collage, monoprint and much more. You will also have the opportunity to study and appreciate the works of famous artists, while developing your own projects.

Being of Franco-German nationality, I speak both German and French in my family setting which facilitates the learning of this language which is the most spoken in Europe. I base my lessons on the "gaps" of my students, learning by "heart" no longer works nowadays and book reading is neglected, so you have to find ways to interest a student. For this we have at our disposal songs, films or even comics that make learning a foreign language more fun.
