Konnichiwa! I'm originally from Tokyo, a native Japanese speaker, and a friendly, dedicated London-based Japanese teacher with over 5 years of experience teaching English-speaking learners of all ages — including teenagers, university students, and adults. I hold a Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching Japanese as a Foreign Language and have been teaching privately with learners at all levels, from beginner to advanced, in person and online.

My teaching style focuses on creating tailor-made lessons that meet each learner’s individual needs, goals, and learning pace. Whether students want to master grammar, improve conversation skills, or prepare for exams like the JLPT or GCSE Japanese, I design lessons that are both effective and enjoyable. I normally use the “Genki” and “Marugoto” textbooks for beginners, and “Tobira” for intermediate, with a lot of talking and listening in the lessons, using my own teaching slides on TV/online.

Some of my students have even gone on to work in Japan after studying with me, which has been one of the most rewarding parts of my teaching journey.

I believe that learning a language is more than just studying words — it’s about connecting with culture and communication. Through engaging activities - some traditional Japanese games, Origami, calligraphy, etc, cultural insights, and interactive lessons, I aim to help my students gain both fluency and confidence in using Japanese.

Available for both online and in-person lessons, I’m passionate about supporting every learner on their unique Japanese language journey.

Outside of teaching, I love skiing, tennis, and scuba diving, and I’m a big dog lover. These hobbies help me stay active, curious, and inspired in my everyday life.

I specialise in tutoring chemistry, biology and Japanese up until A level grade. In my lessons, I help students understand more difficult concepts though simple and easy explanations. Also, in order to see if students fully understand the concepts and are able to apply their knowledge, I incorporate exam questions in every lesson. At the end of every lesson, I will assign homework which may be an exam question or an exercise to solidify student's understanding and identify any weak points.

We can even sing and play some easy games. My aim is for you to enjoy the language, not just studying with textbooks or dictionaries.
