Introduction to contemporary dance and improvisation With this workshop introduction to contemporary dance, we invite people without dance experience to taste improvisation. Dancers use different techniques to create movements. One of them is improvisation: the process of spontaneous movements, shaped by exercises that work on the imagination and empathy. The desired result of the workshop is that the participants make a connection between emotions and movement. 2. Dance classes for seniors The first part of the lesson is warming up on the chair. Inspiration drawn from gyrokinesis, a form of movement that increases spinal mobility. In combination with Pilates-based exercises for muscle activation, we prepare the body with an approach that is suitable for everyone. In the second part, the exercises continue standing with a body scan. The exercises explore every part of the body using weight, dynamics and movement qualities. The end result is the involvement of the whole body playing with rhythms and patterns in space. The class is designed for creativity, individuality and vitality maintenance. 4. “Connect-id flow” - Contemporary dance classes In the “Connect-id flow” class, the essence is to neutralize excess energy so that the dancer moves effortlessly through space. The organic sequence of movements that make up the exercises focuses on weight distribution and the movement of the spine. The accumulated kinetic energy guides our body forward in the exercises; it stimulates the continuation and relaxation of the body parts. During the warm-up, which consists of floor work, information is shared about the correct use of the limbs. As well as the importance of grounding the body to achieve softness and continuity during the execution of the movements. Once we have prepared the body, the intensity of the class builds. The weight navigates the body through space and spirals introduce more complex movements. Ultimately, the goal of the lesson is to build strength, find a smooth flow of movement and a better knowledge of the energy distribution while dancing.

Trusted teacher: You will learn how to flow with good alignment between postures, how to beautify your practice while taking care of your health and increasing your energy level, strength and flexibility. Vinyasa Flow Yoga is a style that uses the structure of the different sun salutations to connect body, mind and spirit, including different yoga postures to the sound of music. In addition, in the sessions you will learn breathing exercises with which to free yourself from stress and anxiety and different techniques to learn to harmonize your emotions. About me: 🔹 What is the class structure? 🔹 We will start with an initial warm-up or intro of the class, then we will begin to introduce Vinyasa, to which we will include different asanas/postures explaining the correct alignment. We will explain the step by step between postures, how to breathe and flow correctly. In the sequence we will include flexion, extension, twisting, force, traction, lateralization, balance and inversion postures. To finish or during the practice we will include breathing, relaxation and meditation exercises. You will have tips to build the self-practice that your body and mind need so that after the process you will know how to practice without always needing the guidance of an experienced teacher. My aim as a dance teacher will be to help you achieve your goals, and customize the classes according to your dance level, and preferences whilst helping you learn and polish your fundamentals in musicality, rhythm, balance, technique and performance in dance. Of course, most importantly, for all of you have to fun! Bollywood dance is an expressive and fun style of dance that originated in India and is usually performed in Hindi films. It is popular worldwide, including a mix of the vibrant circle Garba dance, energetic and dynamic Bhangra dance as well as more traditional elegant and beautiful Bharatnatyam and Kathak forms of dances. Commercial dance is a universal style of dance, performed in music videos, for concerts, musicals or films. It includes a mixture of various styles: jazz, hip-hop, locking, popping, street dance, jazz, contemporary and more. Salsa and Bachata are both Latin style dances that are usually performed with a partner but also can be performed solo with solo moves called, "Shines." Salsa features flashy and energetic moves with lots of spins whilst Bachata (at least the sensual style) features more sensual, sexy moves with body isolation and head rolls. I will teach you how to distinguish both kinds of music by ear, the right technique, balance, body control and isolation, and of course performance. The one thing they all have in common is their training in the Russian ballet method of Vaganova. This professional method has been developed over the decades to become the most effective method in the world. The grandeur of the legendary Russian Bolshoi and Marinskii theatres speak for themselves. For this reason, I have gone to Russia to study for my bachelors in this method at the University of Moscow, and together with my collective experience in teaching ballet, am waiting to train you to become the next ballet legend. WHAT DO CLASSES LOOK LIKE? Each lesson is 1 hour 30 minutes, the sweet spot between length of attention span, physical endurance span, and building stamina. Ballet classes are structured according to the Russian ballet method of Vaganova, and body conditioning classes include professionally developed exercises specifically for dancers. I customize lessons to work on what my students most need, and therefore weak spots are attended to until they are wiped out. Lessons are conducted online in the convenience of your own home, saving both time and transport costs. WILL YOU BENEFIT FROM THESE LESSONS? My lessons are for you if you any one of the following scenarios describes your situation: 1) YOU DO NOT ATTEND ANY OTHER BALLET CLASSES - classes include a full syllabus, examinations are optional, and you can therefore attend my online lessons as your only source of ballet. 2) YOU ALREADY ATTEND OTHER BALLET LESSONS - I also offer the option for you to take these classes as a supplementary addition to classes at your studio in order to boost your scores in exams and competitions, and improve your technique, strength, allegro, and stability in pirouettes, balance, and pointe. This gives you the chance of becoming the new class hero, and enjoy the freedom of dancing without worrying about stamina, faulty technique, low leg height, weak allegro, and gruesome posture. 3) YOU ARE A DANCER, BUT YOU DO NOT DO BALLET - my body conditioning classes are beneficial for dancers of all genres. It teaches complete control over the body, promoting stability, strength, leg height, good balance and stamina. WHAT LEVELS DO I TEACH? I currently teach beginner, intermediate and semi-advanced levels (RAD levels would translate as all levels up to Advanced 1), for children from age 10+ and adults. Although I am qualified to teach higher levels, I currently do not have time to choreograph full classes at such high intensity and complication. ABOUT DANÉ - I am an experienced ballet teacher who loves ballet, people and teaching. To make it more interesting, here is my experience starting now and going backward: Currently I am studying at the university of Moscow where I have been voted the best student of the institute by my lecturers, and have attained cum laude so far in all my subjects. I began studying for my bachelors in Moscow September 2020. I have 14 subjects including the Russian ballet method of Vaganova and several other dance styles, body conditioning for dancers, choreography, music and acting. Due to current events I study online from South Africa for now. In my free time I teach ballet and write scripts for productions, sometimes staging my choreography when time allows. Prior to this, I studied Russian for a year in Kazan, Russia (this is a requirement if you study choreography in Moscow). Before going to Russia I founded and directed my own ballet school in Johannesburg from 2017-2019, and staged 3 productions. During this time I trained with the Russian School of Ballet in South Africa, attained a distinction for my exam and took part in their production at the Roodepoort State Theatre. Before this I trained with the RAD with many distinctions up to Advanced 1, but changed to the Russian method just before taking my Advanced 2 exam (if you take classes with me you will understand why;)). Furthermore, I won countless gold, A+ and special awards in festivals, eisteddfods and competitions, several of them including my own choreography. I was part of a theatre group from 2016-2017, where I performed the lead role in the Roodepoort State Theatre. I have done ballet since 2003, and was schooled in an American syllabus from grade 1 to graduation.
