Online English Reading sessions for children with a Native English Speaker

I provide online reading sessions to children who are learning to read in English and/or who would like to practise their reading skills with a native English speaker. I have extensive experience teaching English to young learners, in particular, in teaching children to read using the Jolly Phonics programme. Each reading session lasts approximately 30 to 40 minutes and includes written feedback of the session, and access to online materials e.g. pdf levelled books, worksheets or links to useful resources.

I am a qualified and experienced Early Years Teacher with extensive experience teaching children to read using the Jolly Phonics programme. Currently I am working in an International School in Brussels as a Reading Support Teacher, as well as providing lessons to children online after school and weekends. I mainly work with children 4 to 8 years old learn to read using the Jolly Phonics programme, however, I'm also able to provide support to English as a Second Language learners and children who would like to practise their reading skills with a Native English speaker i.e. Australian/British.

Each Session lasts for approximately 45 minutes. This includes preparation of the session, the online reading session (30 minutes), and also written feedback and extra materials sent via email to continue to practise at home.

I use zoom for my online sessions so you will need to be familiar with this service. I also prefer parents to stay nearby in case of technical problems, and if possible I would like children to have access to a mini whiteboard, whiteboard markers and eraser for each session.

Student in the second year of the Master in French and Romance Languages and Literatures, French as a foreign language at UCL, I propose French courses for French speakers who have difficulties in this subject (problems of grammar, spelling or writing) to non-francophones wishing to improve their knowledge of French, whatever their age. Dynamic and attentive, I organize my course according to the difficulties and objectives of each student.

In the case of a primary school student, I can also help with homework.

I have certificates in TEFL from both Universitat de Barcelona and University College Cork and have taught English professionally in France, Spain and Italy. I have extensive experience with a variety of age groups, from as young as 3 years old right into adulthood. For two years I taught in an Official Language School in Palma de Mallorca, Spain where I gave classes to students aged 16+ and where I specialised in conversational and project based methodologies. I also delivered classes with a language academy in Padova, Italy where I specialised in adolescent instruction using project based methodologies.

I have been working with the European Parliament for the past year where I have specialised in Regional Development and Women's Rights policy issues. I also possess honours Bachelors Degrees in both European Studies and Hispanic Studies awarded by University College Cork, making me ideal if you're seeking to improve your English for academic or professional reasons.

I have extensive experience with delivering classes to children - I try my best to engage with play and creative methods as far as possible. I've kept strong bonds with the majority of my former 'young' students and it's been such a pleasure to see some of them grow into adolescence with almost fluent English.

I speak French to B2 level and Spanish to C1 level with basic Italian, Portuguese and Catalan, but try to deliver my classes with as much English as possible so as to facilitate target language goals.

Through the lexical approach, you will enhance your existing knowledge of the language, brush up your grammar and become proficient enough to do your job better, get that dream job or simply pass an exam. I favour A number of memory aids and activities designed to use and retain concepts and vocabulary, focusing on breaking bad, old habits which have to date prevented your English from progressing further. Materials come from a variety of sources.

I completed my entire secondary education in Dutch and completed my university studies in Dutch at VUB. I am able to provide valuable help to your children with their Dutch homework. In addition, I am also able to provide in-depth lessons to both secondary school students and young adults.

French is not only a language, it's also a culture :)

I sincerely believe you cannot really master a language if you don't take a deep dive into what makes it unique and living, and by that I mean undergoing so many transformations as we speak it everyday. I am as much interested in sharing this culture and this language that I love so much, as I am in learning from you and what you can teach me. If we do that in French (but English can help as a support, I will help you translate what you mean in French), then I believe spectacular progress is to be expected !

I have supported a large number of students with homework help (all branches combined) as well as with language lessons. Having also worked for several years as a school substitute, I have accumulated experience and am familiar with the requirements required in class.

Polyglot, I master French, English, German, Spanish and Italian and am able to explain the grammar, as well as to propose nice exercises to learn these languages.

I think it's important to keep a relaxed and playful atmosphere during the lessons :-)
