My name is Egita and I am a professional singer and vocal teacher. I began my musical studies in Riga, Latvia at the age of 9. In 2006 I completed studies as a choral conductor and entered Jazeps Vitols Latvian Academy of music in classical singing and teaching department. In 2010 I achieved bachelor in classical singing and also a professional qualification as a singing teacher. In same year I started my voice studies in Conservatorium Maastricht with prof. Axel Everaert. In 2014 I finished Master in Classical singing and Master in Opera singing. During my studies in Riga, Latvia, I have worked as a singing teacher in Vidzemes Jurmalas music and art school, as well teached private students. Also when I came to Maastricht, during my development as a professional singer, I kept teaching singing. These lessons are for young and/or inexperienced singers. My lesson plans are tailored towards students' individual goals. For some, this may be learning and embodying an audition song for their school's upcoming theater performance, and for others voice lessons are a first step towards singing healthily in their church choir. In any case, I focus on correcting and building core skills necessary to singing one's best while encouraging and fostering creativity, accountability, and motivation. If considered for a long-term journey towards singing, I will focus particularly on classical techniques to build steady breath control, good posture, and proper vowel and consonant formation. Along with providing repertoire, if the student is ready and wants, there will be opportunities for vocal performance in the Santa Cruz area. I will encourage audio recordings in all lessons to help with future preparations. I will be assigning some homework after every lesson, likely a combination of vocalization exercises, dedicated sheet music practice, and theory homework (if needed). *My first lesson will involve getting to know the student, their goals, and some vocalization to assess vocal level. For singers with minimal/no prior foundational music theory knowledge, I may recommend time from lessons (15-30 minutes) being allocated solely towards foundational music theory learning.
