The purpose of the first meeting is to get to know the student and determine his current level in mathematics, what are his strengths and weaknesses, and what are the objectives to be achieved. From the observation, I establish with the student and his parents an educational assessment (notions to be reviewed as a priority, working method, duration and frequency of lessons) aimed at best meeting the student's objectives. Our weekly meetings aim to unblock the student, show him the systematic nature of each question and help him understand why it is necessarily such a formula or such property that applies, and how to write it rigorously in control. We work directly on DST topics to familiarize ourselves, well in advance, with the questions and problems that lie ahead on D-Day. METHODOLOGY First of all I learn about the resources available to the student (lessons from his teacher, exercises, supervised homework, homework ...) in order to see with him what is causing him problems. Then for each problem encountered, I suggest that he try to find a solution with clues. If he still can't find it then I show him a solution and then I make him discover variants. Eric communicated with us well and was punctual for the first session. He listened to our wishes & concerns regarding our boys language learning.
