Trusted teacher: Hello! I am classical pianist with a Master's degree at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Den Haag. I teach Piano (and also Music Education) since 2016, to both children and adults. Teaching allows me to bring my passion and enthusiasm for music to the students, and I also find incredibly rewarding to guide and follow their musical and technical development! I am easily adaptable to the students' musical taste and expectations/goals in music learning, and I am also very mindful of how I communicate, according to the students' ages and personalities. I can teach classical music, pop, rock, or any other style. My approach consists of: giving you the necessary theoretical knowledge for what you wish to play; involving you actively in the choice of the pieces/songs you will play; setting up a long-term plan for your repertoire, so that your development is made step by step in a challenging - but achievable - way (and this way, you will feel more motivated!); giving you enjoyable and creative practicing strategies; creating a rich imagery revolving around the piece - by making up a story, relating the music to emotions, etc.; and also positive feedback! Thus, my lessons will allow you to: - Learn how to read scores. -Develop your musical understanding (from notes, rhythm, harmony, to musical taste, emotional comprehension of the music, or dive into aesthetic principles concerning the period and style of the piece,...). -Improve, step by step, until you are able to play that piece/song that you love. -Prepare yourself for exams. -Etc. The best thing is that it's possible for you to learn all this and have fun at the same time! Any question, don't hesitate to contact me.

My aim is always to help you find what the heart of your composition is about, and help you to bring this out and really make it shine. To help illustrate ideas about topics we discuss I will bring examples that can help inform the music you are creating, we will explore ideas of arrangement, orchestration, rehearsal leading and / or production to help flesh out your music, as well as music theory and using scores of other composers.

Trusted teacher: Experimentation is an inherent characteristic of electronic music. Nowadays, composing music using technology creates endless creative possibilities that demand the musician/composer to adapt to numerous technical and artistic challenges. Do you like experimenting with sound and making music that does not clearly belong to a particular genre or style? Interested in bringing a fresh perspective and out-of-the-box thinking to your music production? Are you just starting out in electronic music composition and wondering how to develop your own style? This course is just what you need. In this class, you will learn: - how to transform sound using analogue and digital techniques. - how to create sound structures and organise them in a DAW enviroment to compose a piece of music. - how to record, edit and mix sounds using both conventional and experimental techniques. - how to use improvisation in both the context of live performance and composition. - about the theory and practice of free improvisation. - about the history and origins of electronic music and how it affected the music we listen today. - how to document and communicate procedures related to your artistic practice. - how to create an artistic portfolio. Aspiring musicians with a background in any genre can take advantage of this course. A formal education in music or experience with electronic music composition are not required to follow. However, you should be unafraid of experimenting with sound and music technology! Each class is customized to meet the needs of the individual student in an innovative and flexible way! The course can also serve as a preparation for applying to several Dutch educational programmes related to electronic music composition (Institute of Sonology, HKU, ArtEZ, etc.). The class is focused on small assignments that help the student develop a sense of orientation and set goals. Recording, editing, and mixing will be done via the DAW "Reaper," but we can switch to your preferred software at any time. We will use the first lesson to discuss your background, interests, and motivations in order to develop a course structure that is tailored to your needs.

THE RECORDER The recorder, or flauta doce/de bisel, flauto dolce/dritto, flûte à bec, flauta dulce/de pico, Blockflöte, blokfluit... is an instrument with a lovely sound and a long history. It has been present in my life for 35 years now, and I still find it just as fascinating. It is a practical instrument, easy to carry around, and requires little financial investment at the start, but still opens up a world of possibilities and joy in music making. WHO I AM My name is Inês and I'm a professional recorder player, specialized in Baroque music. Music making for me is about communicating; with the audience, with colleagues, with another era, and with myself. Next to my life as a performing musician, I very much enjoy being a teacher (and also a researcher). MY QUALIFICATIONS I'm an active performer in some of the most renowned Early Music ensembles in the Netherlands, and with these fantastic colleagues I've played throughout Europe, Asia and Brazil at some of the most prestigious concert halls and festivals (e.g. Concertgebouw, Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ, Utrecht Festival Oude Muziek, TivoliVredenburg, Kölner Philharmonie, Izumi Hall). I hold a PhD in Music from Leiden University, and Bachelor's, Master's and teaching diplomas from the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, where I've been teaching since 2012. I am also a certified examiner for higher education in The Netherlands (Basiskwalificatie Didactische Bekwaamheid en Basiskwalificatie Examinering voor HBO-docenten). MY TEACHING STYLE I have been a teacher for over 17 years, guiding students of all ages and levels, from pre-school beginners to conservatory level and experienced amateurs; I equally enjoy teaching children and adults. I am flexible with my methodology, so together we will find the best way for the student to develop whilst enjoying making music. In a typical lesson we will work on sound, rhythm, musicality, discuss technical issues, learn about ensemble playing etc. If you are interested, we can also talk about differences in musical styles, repertoire and learn about the interesting history of the instrument.

Experimental electronic music composition / Free improvisation (theory & practice) (Rotterdam)
Yannis
We just have started to work with Yannis, but I am really happy about how we progress and feel inspired and looking forward to future lectures. Yannis teaches me to develop a vision on how to approach working with sound, while recording, processing and using it in electronic composition. I would say he is opening my mind in a way toward the analysing a character of sound as a compositional element. I like that lessons are not only just about a particular technique (and there are so many to learn from Yannis), but about developing a workflow and a mindset. Examples from historical electronic pieces to listen and analyse from legendary electroacoustic composers are really inspirational. After each lesson there is a home task and in the following lecture there is an analysis of the results and based on that Yannis gives lessons on what needs to be changed, improved, pay attention to etc, in order to develop compositional skills. I highly recommend Yannis as a teacher, if you are into modern experimental electroacoustic composition and improvisation.

Piano, Music Theory and Musical Creativity for kids and adults (The Hague)
Myrto
Our son enjoyed so much a trial with Myrto! She is a very warm and smiley person, great and natural with kids! She was very patient and handled our 5y son wonderfully. It was very nice to have Myrto as she sparked so much joy and love for music. No hesitation to recommend her! In the end we opted for another teacher who spoke Russian to my son and that was an added bonus for us. Otherwise, we would be happy to continue with Myrto!

Ivan
After the first few lessons I can say that Ivan is serious about his craft. His lessons are tailored to the needs of the student and he pays a lot of attention to technique and good posture, which for a beginner guitar player like myself is especially important. On top of that Ivan is just a very nice guy, easy to talk to and able to explain concepts and theory in an understandable way.
