I debated for months if I was going to leave a review for this, but here goes nothing. My experience was more than anything weird. I had booked 2 hours with Dirk, but he spent one hour discussing generally about music and singing methods and before we got to sing at all, he asked me to do the second hour a different day. I didn't think much of it at the time, since it was just the introduction lesson, so maybe only doing warm ups and actual singing the second time around was part of his process. So, I agreed to do the second hour some days later. I was excited to get to sing then. During the days waiting for my second session with Dirk, he emailed me about his acting and hypnosis lessons as well, that he mentioned face to face too after our first session, and his full year, plus some of his other singing programs. He basically said that if I decided to pay for the annual singing plan in the next 2 days, I could have unlimited lessons for a year, plus 3 professional recordings for a huge discount. Nothing bad about with him trying to promote his other student packages, but I disliked how when I told him I don't want to commit for such a big, long term plan how his response was ''Sure, a little sad though because I'm pretty sure you'll end up doing the course and paying a lot more! ;-)''. Still, I wanted to give him one chance to see how he would be as a teacher when I actually got to sing with him. Sadly, he wasn't there for the second session. I returned home after I rang his bell many times and had called him and texted him too, with no answer back. I was already asking for a refund with Apprentus, when he finally texted back saying he was in an accident, but everyone was fine and to reschedule our lesson. At this point, it felt like too many red flags and even if he was truthful, I decided to end things. He kept sending me long, emotional messages that frankly felt very unprofessional. And in the end, he also did try to make me not go through the refund with the Apprentus site, but to give him my bank account number so that his accountant would repay the one hour I lost in 2 and a half weeks later. That was again weird given that Apprentus protects both of us with their refund policy, so I did not accept. Thankfully, with the protection of Apprentus, I got my refund and our communication stopped there. And that was my full experience with Dirk. Maybe it will help someone else avoid all of this unnecessary drama, but who knows maybe Dirk was simply not a fit for me.
