For the past two decades, I've had the privilege of tutoring in both French and English. My students have ranged in age, background, and origin, spanning children, teenagers, adults, professionals, and even seniors aged 85 and above. You might wonder why I teach both languages. Well, I am bilingual, with American and Swiss/French roots, and I currently reside in Ireland. This unique blend of experiences equips me with a strong and relevant teaching approach. My teaching journey began during my time studying social work in French-speaking Switzerland. I started offering private French and English lessons to supplement my income, and I quickly discovered my passion for it. Even after graduating and embarking on a full-time career, I couldn't bear to give up this rewarding activity. Those students who wish to speak Urdu for the sake of personal enjoyment and fulfillment – or even to converse with their spouses, friends, and family – will learn with me to speak the language with a fine neutral accent. At the end of successfully finishing this course, the student will be able to converse in Urdu without hesitation. Urdu is a beautiful language that is spoken by more than 200 million people worldwide in countries like Pakistan, India, Afghanistan, the United Arab Emirates, and other parts of the world. Urdu started developing in North India around Delhi in the 12th century. It was based on the language spoken in the area around Delhi and was heavily influenced by Arabic and Persian as well as Turkish. Urdu originates from Hindi, sometimes referred to as the 'sister' language of Urdu due to its grammatical basis. However, Hindi is written in 'Devanagari', a script similar to Sanskrit, and its vocabulary is influenced more by Sanskrit than by Persian and Arabic.
