I specialise in violin and viola lessons for ABRSM exams. I have been teaching since 2012, and since 2016 I have also been teaching over Skype. My students have had many successful results for ABRSM exams, high school scholarship auditions and local music competitions. I have been teaching theory grades 1-5 for since 2018, with some students achieving distinction level results. I teach internationally via Skype with students in the UK, Denmark, Sweden, and the USA. Through my high level of teaching, you child will be taught how to pass the exams to the very best of their capability, with focus on the technique of the instrument, and how to perform. I have previously taught in Hill House International School, and Hampden Gurney (London). I have studied with many of the leading teachers in Europe and the USA. I started my education at Junior Department of the Royal Academy of Music (London), where I studied with James Sleigh for five years. I was a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, and the National Youth Strings Academy. I the studied my Bachelor of Music at the Royal College of Music (London), where I studied with Andriy Viytovych. I have a Masters of Music from Trinity Laban College of Music and Dance (London), studying under Roger Chase, and a Masters in Fine Art from Gothenburg University (Sweden) with Øvyor Volle (Vertavo Quartet). I also studied in the USA at the Manhattan School of Music, New York, and Chicago College of Performing Arts. I work as a professional viola player across the UK and Scandinavia, with such orchestras as The Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra of the Royal Opera House (Stockholm), Bergen Philharmonic, Norwegian Radio, Gothenburg Symphony, Norrkoping Symphony, Jonkoping Sinfonietta, Aarhus Symphony, and English National Ballet Philharmonic. I am also a music arranger and transcriber.

I'm an experienced teacher, with students of different levels/ages. I enjoy the diversity of students and understanding of their different ways of learning and goals and for me, this is the best part of the job - to know an treat each student as a unique person that they are. You'll be encouraged to make music from the very first day. Together with some necessary music theory, always applied to the instrument, you'll learn pieces of gradual difficulty. We make use of progressive tuition methods and you'll learn a solid technique by playing scales, bowing and fingering exercises and easy tunes to begin with. Repertoire includes etudes, playful and challenging concert pieces and from the very beginning duos to play with the teacher.

Reading and writing are brought about by creation and musical composition. For the more experienced, polyphony and difficult passages can be approached with different tools, by awareness of harmony and melodic modes and polyrhythm. Sometimes it is enough to be aware of simplicity to overcome difficult passages. I push to go further in the quality of the interpretation with simple means to better understand the music and thus allow more expressiveness and freedom. I also offer improvisation, harmony, lessons in musical ensembles, especially vocal polyphony for children, and lessons for specific needs, for example just intonation for singers or other instruments.
