About Me

I am a full-time piano tutor at The Music Centre in Leigh, with over six years of teaching experience. I began learning the piano at the age of six and have since cultivated a lifelong passion for music.

Education

After completing high school, I pursued an Associate Degree in Arts (Music) and went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Music. During my time in university, I had the opportunity to hold a solo piano recital and participated in numerous choir performances, further enhancing my performance skills.

I completed the ATCL Diploma with distinction in 2011 and hold ABRSM Grade 8 Theory certification. My teaching approach is informed by my rich educational background and performance experience, allowing me to provide comprehensive musical instruction that nurtures both technical proficiency and artistic expression in my students.

We decide with my student to pick any or all of the following topics:
Breathing exercises, vocal cord and diaphragm awareness exercises, vocal range exercises, an introduction to notes, scales and chords; advanced topics such as circle of fifths and other methods to read and compose progressions, negative harmony concept, complex chords; introduction to DAW's (digital audio workstation), working with cubase, working with ableton, working with pro tools, working with other audio software, sound and fx design, how to compose a catchy tune, how to write music for branding, how to write music for youtube, how to write music for gaming.

As a singing teacher with an active performance career in classical/opera singing, I offer one-to-one singing lessons to students of all abilities and in all genres of singing. My Bachelors of Music degree and Masters of Music degree from the Royal Northern College of Music makes me a specialist in classical singing - this expands into Opera, Lied, English Song and French Mélodie. I have also trained in LAMDA Musical Theatre and performed with the National Youth Music Theatre in London's West End, adding Musical Theatre and Pop to my teaching repertoire. Grade 8 qualified with ABRSM, i will prepare students for both theory and singing exams.

My lessons focus on implementing the techniques that that I have been taught by world renowned professionals and I base her pedagogy on the classical training that I've received from around the world. Lessons can be in person or online.

Sara’s teaching is primarily based on the Estill Model (Level 1 & 2 training by Stephanie Marko & Charlotte Xerri). This model focuses on different structures of the voice in isolation, before combining and manipulating them to form a desired voice quality. Lessons delve into effective techniques used by pop, musical theatre, jazz, classical and opera singers, such as: ‘speech’, ‘twang’, ‘belt’ and ‘sob’.

Hi there, I'm a musician, currently based in Manchester, but have studied in France and Switzerland. I did my undergraduate in music at the University of Oxford and am now a professional orchestral conductor.
I've played the trumpet and piano for 15 years, playing classical music as both a soloist and in orchestras.
I have a very strong understanding of music theory, and have also learnt Solfege in France.

My teaching styles is mixed Chinese and Taiwanese, figuring out which is the best way for students.definitely bringing you a different learning style. I will ask my students lots "Why" on their performance. It helps students think, have their own character in music.

We will focus on basic practice and technical aspects, such as posture, finger strength, movements and articulation. I focus on expression and interpretation of different music pieces, how student think of the notes and how to present music.
We start with tuning and doing basic training, revision of last lesson for 15 minutes, follow by learning those pieces in detail for about 20 - 25 minutes. The last 5-10 minutes will be dedicated to the review and assignments. Besides all these, I will teach basic Chinese Music theory as well to help with better understanding and learning on Music.

*Part of basic training will always in every lesson. This helps students to have a better control of their fingers' independence, and to strengthen every techniques.

For specific learning Chinese music theory students, please bring with a notebook to mark down those key points.
