Hello! My name is Josh and I'm a native English speaker from Cambridge in the United Kingdom. I've been working as an English teacher since 2017 and I'm passionate about language learning and teaching. Travelling is very important to me and I really enjoy visiting different places around the world, whilst meeting new people along the way.

HOW DO I TEACH?

We'll use a variety of different materials in our lessons to ensure that your English learning experience is well balanced and engaging. To help you build confidence and improve your proficiency, we'll use a variety of materials, which may include news articles, stories, other texts and videos.

As for my teaching style, I'll ensure that you feel relaxed by being encouraging. I'll also focus on helping you to correct your mistakes and speak English in a way that's similar to a native speaker, which will improve the quality of your English communication! Rest assured that you have no need to be afraid of making mistakes because this will help you to improve your English more quickly.

Regarding my education background, I am a TEFL certified teacher and I hold a bachelor's degree in modern languages (German and Spanish). This means that I have received training in teaching English as a foreign language effectively. Furthermore, having studied German and Spanish extensively, I understand what the process of learning a new language entails and can help my students to achieve their goals.

Learning a foreign language is not a linear process that consists of memorising a list of words, and speaking a foreign language is not an oral translation exercise.

There are two types of approaches to acquiring knowledge:

When asked what year follows 1999, you can immediately answer 2000 without having to think for a long time and, above all, without having memorised each number individually, starting with 1, 2, 3 ... You know that numbers are formed according to a certain pattern. With only ten digits, you can form an infinite number of numbers and always know which number comes next.

When it comes to the alphabet, words and sentences, it's more or less the same, but school pedagogy, school textbooks and regular lessons still follow the rote learning approach. In the lessons I propose, you will learn to use patterns because this is more efficient and faster.

Learning is easy, but unlearning bad habits is extremely difficult. This makes it all the more important to learn the right reflexes as early as possible.
