You may have used to play the violin many years ago and are trying to get back at it but don't know how, you may have just started and you're looking for a teacher that can guide your first steps, you may be looking for regular coaching for an already developed sense of musicality — my classes accommodate all of the above and more.
Most of my pupils are already intermediate students who are dedicated to becoming the young violinists of the future, but that doesn't mean my class isn't for you if you are simply looking for a hobby! Music is about having fun together!

Hello! My name is Manuel and I'm a classical violinist.

I am originally from Lisbon, where I started to learn the violin at age 5, though I am currently based in Amsterdam — that is, when I'm not flying around for concerts.
I have studied in the Royal Academy of Music, in London, the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp, the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and the Fondazione Musicale Santa Cecilia. As a performer, I have presented myself a bit all over the place, both as a soloist and as a chamber musician, in countries like France, Germany, Finland, Sweden, Austria, Denmark, Andorra and China. I have been awarded prizes, both as a violinist and as a chamber musician in Portugal, Spain, Belgium, Italy and the UK.

As a violin teacher, I have been gaining experience since the age of 18, when I had my very first student. I currently have a small online class of my own thanks to the East-West Arts Initiative, in China, which creates a bridge between Europe and China through learning and sharing music.

STRUCTURE BY LEVEL

Beginner*
I have got my own techniques of teaching kids (lots of colors, shapes, children songs), as well as adult beginners. What’s most important in this stage is to let the student enjoy the sound of the piano, and be satisfied and motivated after a lesson. Together we will work on a certain repertoire that will help you improve your technique and hearing skills, develop your musical knowledge and creativity.

Intermediate*
With students of this level, we will work more on perfecting the harmony, technique, and transcription. You will learn how to improvise a more challenging repertoire that requires the practice of both technique and music analysis.

Advanced*
Depending on your goal, I am going to help you develop a certain part of your piano playing. We are going to dive into details of harmony (jazz harmony), improvisational skills, compositional skills, stage skills and more.

*Classes can be tailored to your needs and particular areas of interest if needed.

I am Alberto, and I will help you achieve your musical goals with a tailor-made program. My approach is to find suitable music for your technical and expressive level and work specifically on the challenges that it represents.

Music is for everyone! Kids and adults
Perhaps you want to surprise your couple playing a bossa-nova. Or maybe you want to become the next solo trombone at the Concertgebouw Orchestra. Everyone has different goals when playing the trombone, it is my job to help you achieve them. If you don't have clear objectives yet, I will be guiding you and exploring the possibilities of trombone playing with you. Also, especially for kids, I can help you find a nice pBone. They are lightweight plastic trombones made with great quality and available in different colours!

Good technique, and a lot of fun
The most important lesson I have learned in my career is that making good music is only possible when you enjoy the process. Of course, good technical skills are crucial but studying exercises that you find boring is not the best way up to proficiency. Instead, finding your unique best approach to improve your skills will get you to the moon! For improving your tempo awareness, would you practice with a metronome or would you rather use a drumbeat sample?

Your health is important! Body awareness and breathing techniques
Not only wind players benefit from doing sport, acquiring good posture habits, and being aware of their breath. It helps everyone in every single aspect of their lives. A good breathing technique will let you play easily, run for a longer period of time, or sleep better at night. On the other hand, body posture awareness helps with productivity and saves money on the fysio. Life hacks that you cannot miss!

Improvisation and open-mindedness
That very feeling of creating art on the spot. Only a few experiences can relate to it. When we explore and create, our flow state gets triggered. We are fully immersed in the activity and the world surrounding us vanishes. If you like, we will go on a journey discovering new emotions, colours, sounds, harmonies, textures, styles, genres. And improvising on them. Let's get creative!

Technology in music. Recording and producing
Let's face it, we are in the 21st century and the possibilities of technology are endless in the audiovisual field. Recording for auditions, producing and releasing your first single, live looping, use of effects... You can learn all that with me. Are you curious? Book your lesson now!
Ok but, how will my lessons look like?
Breathing practice is one of the best ways to start warming up. It will take the first 5 minutes of your lesson and your body will be prepared to start playing.
Then, we would go into working on your specific goals. Perhaps, we are practicing music that demands improvement on the higher register, maybe we are working out different scales for improvisation, or it might be the case that you want to discover a new genre and go deep into it. Reading music, ear training, phrasing, music theory, buzzing and embouchure position, articulations (legato, staccato, accents), dynamics... These are only an indication of what we might work on.
The final minutes of your lesson will be the moment to relax. We can get creative, play some tunes together, improvise, or even talk about a specific topic like musicality, art, creativity, technique, theory, or the music industry for instance.

Group lessons and ensembles
Making music alone is fun, but playing with people brings it to the next level! If you like the idea, I will bring you together with other fellow students for technique workshops, jam sessions, duo with piano, or whatever other activity we might find interesting for you.

I offer flexibility in my schedule so your trombone lessons fit into your agenda. I can come to your place, or perhaps you prefer visiting my teaching room in Utrecht. I will have some coffee or tea waiting for you.

I am a brass performer and teacher that has performed in classical and modern music ensembles for more than 15 years. During this time, I attended innumerable masterclasses and had great fun in various professional experiences such as performing at Tomorrowland, an avant-garde music festival in Malta, or the great symphonic masterpieces with symphonic orchestras in Spain and the Netherlands.
I hold a bachelor's and a master's degree in music performance and a master's degree in music education during my official studies in Spain, Italy, and the Netherlands.

I'm a graduate of the School of Jazz and Popular Music in Wroclaw (piano class) and the Academy of Music in Katowice - Jazz and Popular Music department in the signing class. My name is Anna, a violin teacher from Ukraine living in Amsterdam.
Music is my profession, hobby, passion, life. I think music in itself is healing. It touches us, brings different emotions, it gives us energy, joy, power. It helps to understand each other without words.

Lessons:
Teaching is a part of my life. I have had a great experience in Ukraine where I learned different approaches and where I got my knowledge and experience I continue to work and share it here, in the Netherlands.

My name is Mathilde, I am a French violinist, pianist, harpsichordist, producer and composer.
I have graduated from the world’s great institutions such as the Royal College of Music London, Manhattan School of Music New-York, Brussels Royal Conservatory, and Paris-Sorbonne University (in musicology).
I have been performing concerts around the world in the most prestigious concert halls including the Châtelet Theatre and Seine Musicale (Paris), the National Opera House (Oman) and La Scala (Milan), as well as many other venues in Europe, US, China, Middle-East. During this period of time, I had been playing in the Orchestra Academy of La Scala in Milan for 2 years, and I am currently playing at the Metropole Orkest in Amsterdam.

With the experiences I gained over the years - including the teaching experience in the Conservatory of Cambrai (France) - I became an expert in teaching violin and keyboards as well as music theory, including writing and reading scores. I have been teaching to the different age groups and different levels of technical backgrounds (beginner or advanced). I can easily adapt myself to the level of each student to create a synchronicity and help them pursue their goals and wishes. I am there to help them as a teacher and a music coach for their musical career. I can combine different practices and teach basic techniques in repertoire that matches the personality of the student (from classical to contemporary, pop, rock and more). Based on the teaching experiences I have, I can consider myself as a teacher with patience, motivating style and an open mind. Private lessons for beginners to advanced level of violin playing. All ages are welcome. I am a professionally trained teacher and violinist for almost two decades. My lessons are given in English, Spanish and (basic) Dutch.

My teaching method is variable depending on the students' needs, but the goal is shared: to make a great musician and qualified violinist out of the pupil. I work on both technical and musical aspects from a (very) consciously prepared healthy and enjoyable perspective. Particular emphasis on having fun with the little ones!

I pay special attention to creating a personalized education and experience for every one of my students. I also give some additional tools applicable to the violin playing which includes: Introduction to Yoga, Feldenkrais, Alexander Technique and Body & Mind. All the basic theory is taught too.

Occasionally, there are student concerts and collaborations with other teachers. (These may include some teachers from the Sweelinck Academy or the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, and more).

From among the required tools for my lessons are: a violin and a bow, score and books purchases when necessary, and, from time to time, meetings with the parents. On occasion, I use digital tools like phone/tablet apps.

I can teach in various places near or in the center of Amsterdam, or, depending on the need, I can move to pretty much wherever in The Netherlands.

About the homework, I send it to the students on a weekly basis and encourage them to participate on competitions and summer music courses. As always, this is conditional on the pupil's stage.

If you’re interested in learning the flute and/ or gaining a new understanding of music through harmony, this lesson will provide that for you.

If you choose to, we’ll cover technique, improvisation, reading music, tone control and expression. We’ll also go over the fundamentals of harmony to give you the tools that will help with any other instrument. Your listening skills will also be developed. I teach violin to children and adults, beginners and advanced.

Every student is unique. Besides developing good technique, I also enjoy meeting each student's musical wishes and dreams. Learning to play the violin is a collaborative process!

From the very first lesson, I pay a lot of attention to playing together, because making music together is the most fun there is!

In addition to individual lessons, I support my students' playing in orchestras, ensembles, and bands. There are also several opportunities to perform with the accompaniment of a professional pianist. Once a year, I organize a video recording day with several students for competitions and contests. I'm a violinist with the Dutch National Opera & Ballet in Amsterdam. I've worked with numerous orchestras both in the Netherlands and abroad.
