I specialise in English (British & American) tuition for native and non-native speakers of all ages, and have experience working with:
• young children learning English for the first time
• primary- and secondary-school students studying the English language and its literatures
• adult professionals and seniors wishing to improve their language skills, or develop pronunciation or presentational skills

I have two degrees in English language and literature (B.A. and Mst) from the University of Oxford, and I am also a graduate of the International Baccalaureate (I.B.) Diploma program. I've developed a creative approach in my sessions with students that involves applying a student's particular talents and interests (regardless of subject) in the process of language acquisition, along with the simultaneous development of critical skills like close and careful reading, argumentation, written style, and effective communication.

I am versed in the requirements and intricacies of a range of national and international diploma programs. When working with students supplementing an academic syllabus, my goal is always to position them to succeed in the assignments and assessments laid out by a primary instructor.

About Me
• I am as passionate about language and literature as I am about helping others realise their potential in these fields.
• I'm a writer by trade, and I tutor because I enjoy the interactive process of assisting a student in the pursuit of learning outcomes.
• I work closely with my students to incorporate their own interests and talents—regardless of subject—into our specific tuition model. The development of language skills like reading, speaking, and writing is a complex process, and I believe everyone has unique experience to bring to the table.
• I have experience tutoring people of all ages: young children working on English acquisition, primary- and secondary-school students studying English language and literature, as well as professionals and senior students wishing to improve their English, or develop their pronunciation and presentational skills.
• When a student is school-age, I always defer to the primary syllabus delivered by a classroom instructor; my goal is always to set my students up to succeed.

Have you been invited to interview at Oxford or Cambridge this coming autumn? Congratulations!

Oxbridge interviews are the make-or-break stage in acceptance into one of these two top-tier universities, and they require a significant amount of preparation and know-how in order to succeed.

Having successfully secured a place for myself to study English Language & Literature at the University of Oxford in 2015, and having been subsequently invited to pursue a Master's degree in English literature on scholarship, I am versed in the intricacies and expectations of the interview process for a range of disciplines.

I work with students across a series of sessions to hone their understanding of what's expected of them during the interview process, to identify their particular strengths and improve on their weakness, and to practice extemporaneous speaking and timed essay-writing and test-taking.

Each course is designed with the candidate in mind, and I can outline a recommended number of sessions and their contents based on an initial session.

After a turbulent career in the media, marketing and mental health care, I am now back to my roots in education.
I am very knowledgeable and was an academic success, but I don't just work with HBO or WO students. I also teach classes in primary education, VMBO, MBO, HAVO and VWO. Below you will find an overview of which subjects I teach and at what level. :

PO: Writing, reading, fluency, history, English.
English language and literature: up to and including university thesis supervision
Psychology: up to and including university thesis supervision.
Philosophy: up to and including university thesis supervision
Dutch: up to and including 6VWO
History: up to and including 6VWO.
Reading and writing skills: all levels
Presentation and speaking skills: all levels
Personal development: all levels.

But I have more to offer my pupils than just professional knowledge. I am also educated and experienced in coaching and guidance, so I am not just a teacher, but an expert in personal development. As a therapist I know how to deal with learning or other problems of any kind. So I deliver custom work, for children as well as young people and adults

What does a lesson from me look like? Well, that is always a surprise and never boring! My starting point is coaching, so I always work on a good relationship and developing or strengthening confidence in my own capacities, or Empowerment. Everything else comes after that. A lesson of mine is otherwise varied, with relatively short, but very intensive learning moments, and in between small breaks with some distraction.

This could be a conversation about something else, or a joke, or an anecdote, so that you get the best out of your concentration and the material remains manageable. I also often work with music, or poems, or paintings that are related to the subject matter, then it sticks better and it is just great fun. I am very inventive and original, so with me you are drawn into an adventure every lesson!

Anna
Hi there!

My name is Anna and I am a native English speaker living in North Holland.

I currently teach English at a bilingual school to vwo/havo/vmbo students (secondary school students). Next to that I tutor English professionally from A2 to C1 level.

If you want to improve your written/spoken English in a professional business setting, then I can assist with this. I can also help prepare students for language exams, or improve their general English proficiency.

I have worked as a teacher for over 5 years and during that time I have gained experience teaching to students as young as 4 years old, as well as adults. I am open to tutoring any age from A2 level and up.

I am currently available Monday late afternoons/evenings, Wednesday late afternoons/evenings, and Friday late afternoon/evenings. I am flexible on weekends.

About me:
I studied psychology and organizational leadership in the US. I worked as a primary school teacher and then as a high school teacher in the US, in addition to tutoring independently and at tutoring centers. After relocating here, I attended Utrecht universiteit to become a certified teacher in the Netherlands. I currently work at a bilingual school and teach English grammar and literature to students between 12 and 16 years of age. I spend my limited free time cooking in excess and feeding my friends/neighbors/colleagues, or exploring the city, or taking care of my two unnamed fish, or attempting to bake (I am bad a terrible baker, ironic given my name!). Ultimately, I am passionate about teaching and learning, so that is how I spend most of my days.
