Drum lessons for beginners and advanced

Would you like to learn the drums or further develop your skills? I offer individual drum lessons for beginners and advanced players in Berlin Wedding – fun, systematic, and musically profound.
I am a trained jazz drummer (Bachelor of Music, HfMT Hamburg, final grade 1.0), taught for many years at the Neumünster Music School (Schleswig-Holstein) and was a lecturer for percussion major at the Academy of the Hamburg Conservatory for one year.
In my lessons, the joy of making music is paramount – regardless of skill level. I place particular emphasis on preparing my students as best as possible for playing with others, because it's in an ensemble that the percussion instrument truly shines.

This is how the lesson works:

* For beginners, I work on basic instrumental skills using songs. I also include exercises on rhythm, music reading, and technique—always tailored to the student's musical preferences.
* I support advanced students in developing technical and coordination skills, in stylistic refinement and in improvisation.
* Private lessons in Berlin-Wedding or as a home visit: I teach in my room near Seestraße subway station or, if you wish, I can come to your home (Wedding and surrounding areas).

Julius
(German version further down)

I enjoy teaching because it requires a deeper knowledge of the material than if one is only performing music. I am continuously learning too.
I do not think that it is important how old you are or in what environment you grew up.
To engage with music as a result of learning an instrument can bring your brain into a healthy state of ongoing change.
People who are "without any talent" for music do not exist. Everyone can engage with music and enjoy it.

I can teach piano:
- involving sheet music or not, depending on what you prefer.
- or/and music theory lessons
- or/and improvisation
- or/and Jazz
- or/and Ear Training
- or/and Composition.

The lessons can be held in English or German or a mixture of both.
I teach close to Friedrichstraße in Berlin. The lessons can be done via Skype too.

You can read about me as a performing musician here:
Julius (*1995) is a German pianist and composer, graduated from the University of Arts Berne in Switzerland in 2017 with honors.
In July 2019 he finished his Masters in the European Jazz Masters Program through the Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen with exchange semesters in Berlin and Amsterdam.
Throughout his studies, he was lucky enough to receive artistic guidance from Colin Vallon, Django Bates, Harmen Fraanje, Simon Toldam, Peter Bruun, Greg Cohen, and Michael Moore.
Julius was granted a scholarship by Lyra Stiftung Zürich in 2015 and 2016. Tours with his own bands have been supported by different fundings from Switzerland and Germany.
He performed all across Europe during the past years.

German:

When teaching, it's important to have a deeper understanding of everything than when "just" making music. I'm always learning as a teacher.
It doesn't matter how old you are or whether you grew up in a music-rich or music-poor environment. Engaging with music can put our brains into a healthy state of constant change and growth.
There are no people who are "talentedless" when it comes to music. Everyone can engage with music and enjoy it.

I offer lessons with or without sheet music, depending on your preference. If you're interested, I also teach music theory, improvisation, jazz, ear training, and composition.

Classes are held in German or English, or a mixture of both. I teach near Friedrichstrasse in Berlin. Classes can also be held via Skype.

Cassie
Hi, I’m Cassie—a British jazz saxophonist, award-winning composer, and Trinity Laban Conservatoire graduate, now based in Berlin. I’m currently looking for a couple of private saxophone and/or composition students who are keen to develop their skills in a supportive and engaging environment.

Saxophone Lessons:

With a strong background in Jazz and improvised music, I offer saxophone lessons tailored to each student’s needs—whether you’re preparing for ABRSM or Royal College exams (or other equivalent examination boards), exploring jazz improvisation, or just playing for fun. As a performer, I’ve played at major festivals and venues across the UK, USA & Europe such as Glastonbury Festival (UK, SXSW (USA) and Paris Jazz Festival (FR). I am still active as a touring band-leader/artist and I bring that real-world experience into my teaching.

Composition Lessons:

As a classical composer, my work spans orchestral, chamber, and jazz ensemble writing, with commissions from leading arts organisations and orchestras - recent commissions include the London Symphony Orchestra and BBC Philharmonic. My lessons focus on notation, orchestration, and arranging—whether you’re composing for small ensembles or larger-scale works. I hold a BMus Hons degree in composition from Trinity Laban Conservatoire (London) where I studied with American composer Stephen Montague and British composer Andrew Poppy.

Composition lessons I am able to teach both in-person and online via Zoom.

If you're interested or have any questions, feel free to get in touch!

Looking forward to making music with you! 🎷🎼
