    Tutor in Mathematics/Physics/Statistics (ALL LEVELS)

Mathematics/Physics/Statistics can be challenging topics to understand. Many also find the topics boring, making learning even harder.

But it doesn't have to be like that!

The reason why people find it boring is because teachers do not know how to make it interesting. This makes the student not curious about the subjects, which makes learning feel like a lot of work! However, with a Masters in Mathematics and Physics (University of Manchester, UK), and years of tutoring experience, I have learned that there is a way to teach that uses the individual's curiosity as fuel for learning. Not only will they understand the topics, but they will also naturally see how useful these topics are!

I will combine what you are curious about with the topics you are trying to learn. In this way, you will understand something you are passionate about, using concepts you need to learn (for example, to pass an exam).

Whether you have a child that hates these topics, or you are a university student struggling with some topics, there is something for everyone!

    About Me

As children, we are naturally curious about the world. This makes us eager to learn about it. For topics like Mathematics/Physics/etc there is a lot to be curious about! Unfortunately, the education system doesn't make it easy to be curious about these difficult subjects!

Partly, this is because you have to teach in a certain way based on government regulations. Partly, this is because teachers simply do not know how to do that!

I believe you can spark the curiosity in these subjects by relating them to what the student is passionate about. This is not a theory - I have seen this to be true in the students I have tutored.

For university students, I can also help. I found in my degree that there was two ways to complete university. Firstly, you can learn how to pass the exams. Secondly, you can gain a strong intuition for the topics you have to learn. In the second, you naturally know how to explain topics to students in a way they can understand. For a single topic, you have multiple explanations, at least one of which will give the student the "aha!" moment that means they have finally understood.

My extensive teaching experience covers a wide range of engineering courses, including: - Mathematics: algebra, linear algebra, probability, calculus, differential equations, intellectual math, and advanced engineering mathematics. - Mechanical Engineering: Statics, Dynamics, Mechanics of materials, Mechanical design, control, vibration, Fluid Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Heat transfer, Engineering drawing, Applied Mechanics, Composite Structures, Flight, Machine Elements, Manufacturing, 3D printing, and more. - Physics: mechanics, momentum and energy, electricity, charge and current, electric and magnetic fields, waves, particle physics, nuclear decay, astrophysics, cosmology, oscillations, etc. - CAD/CAM Software: Autocad, Solidworks. - Mechanical Design Packages: ANSYS, APDL programming, ABAQUS, MATLAB, Symbolic MATLAB, LS-DYNA. My research and teaching interests are diverse, including: • Additive manufacturing • Mechanical metamaterials • Acoustical metamaterials • Electromagnetic metamaterials • Aeroacoustics • Soft matter and soft robotics • Fatigue and fracture mechanics • Experimental mechanics • Multiscale numerical modelling • Biomaterials • Porous materials • Manufacturing of medical devices and implants • Deep learning • Image processing • Topology optimization • Origami and Kirigami structures • Self-folding and self-assembly structures • Tissue engineering • Permeability in porous materials • Fluid-Solid Interaction I understand that not all teachers excel in teaching Engineering and Mathematics courses and explaining their importance to students. Courses with strong mathematical backgrounds may become boring for students who lack a solid mathematical basis. To address this, I take a student-centered approach, starting from the basics to actively engage all students, including those with weaker mathematical backgrounds. I also provide practical examples to demonstrate the real-world significance of what they are learning, inspiring and fostering their interest in the subject matter. If you have any additional questions before starting a class, please feel free to ask me. I am here to assist! :)

Tutoring in physics and mathematics, primary to university level
During a regular school curriculum, the material to be assimilated can be considerable, so much so that many concepts are only understood superficially, just enough to pass an exam. In my opinion, it is essential to establish a solid foundation before building new knowledge. The course is therefore structured as follows: - Review of relevant physical and mathematical concepts prior to the course. - Course overview: We identify the key concepts, what is well understood and less well understood by the student, in which case misunderstandings are addressed. - Practice: We put new concepts into practice through a series of exercises aimed at anchoring the learning. - Summary: I like to conclude each session with a discussion where the roles are reversed: the student explains the concepts covered in their own words. It is often by trying to teach in turn that we highlight our misunderstandings — and really consolidate our knowledge! "If you cannot explain something simply, it is because you have not understood it well." - Albert Einstein - Written record: I give lessons via videoconference, with a tablet and stylus as a visual aid. Notes are taken on Notability and are shared at the end of the session.

We explore the Binomial Theorem in detail, ensuring that students can apply it effectively in problem-solving scenarios. By the end of our sessions, students will be able to expand binomials with confidence and accuracy. Arithmetic Progressions (AP): Understanding arithmetic progressions is fundamental in mathematics. I provide comprehensive instruction on identifying and working with sequences where each term is derived by adding a constant. Students learn how to find the nth term, the sum of the first n terms, and how to apply these concepts to solve real-world problems. Geometric Progressions (GP): I also specialize in geometric progressions, where each term is obtained by multiplying the previous term by a constant. My approach includes explaining key concepts such as the nth term and the sum of a geometric series, both finite and infinite. We tackle a variety of problems to ensure a deep understanding of the subject. Further Sequences and Series: Beyond the basics, I explore further topics in sequences and series, including convergence and divergence. This advanced understanding prepares students for higher-level mathematics and the challenges they may face in university studies. Mastering Calculus In addition to Sequences and Series, I offer expert guidance in Calculus, which is essential for success in AS and A-Levels. My focus here includes: Differentiation: I help students understand the principles of differentiation, teaching them how to find derivatives and apply them to various functions. We work on techniques, such as the product and quotient rules, and explore applications of derivatives in real-world contexts. Integration: Students learn the fundamentals of integration, including definite and indefinite integrals. I emphasize techniques such as substitution and integration by parts, ensuring that students can tackle a wide range of problems. Application of Calculus: We explore how calculus is used in practical scenarios, including motion problems and areas under curves, to provide a holistic understanding of the subject. Proven Approach to Learning My proven approach focuses on solving past examination questions, which is crucial for familiarizing students with the exam format and types of questions they will encounter. I emphasize understanding core principles rather than rote memorization. This methodology not only boosts confidence but also ensures that students can apply their knowledge effectively in exams.
