Hello there! I'm Elisa, a 25yo Italian girl born and raised in the sunny hills of Italy. I'm currently a master student at Wageningen University in the Netherlands, living and studying in an extremely international environment. I have more than 3 years of experience in giving private lessons, teaching scientific subjects and English to Italian high school students. Once we make sure you are fine and confident with the basics of the language, we can adjust the lessons to your own needs: we can focus on conversation and everyday use words and sentences, so that at the end you will eventually be able to speak and understand Italian in real life situations, or we can focus more on the grammar if you need to improve that aspect of the language, or just on whatever you need.
What I try to do in my lessons is to recreate the process that we go through when we learn our first language as kids. It's proven that when learning a language, we tend to remember new words better if we hear them in different situations and contests, and that's what I'll base my lessons on. As an Italian Opera singer, I help since many years singers with the right pronunciation of the repertoire they sing, helping them in shaping the language in a clear way, which also helps the singing.

Our lesson will involve speaking, pronunciation exercises and singing.
We will start the lesson by reading the text and finding the right direction and emphasis.
We will focus on the sounds and how to produce them.

I offer my native knowledge of Italian to any of you, who wants to discover this beautiful language.

I teach for all levels, from very beginners to advanced speakers, passing through amateurs or simply curious of any age. I can also help with university exams and school works/assignments.
Being a pianist and a piano teacher, I already have lots of experience with teaching and pedagogical approach with the whole range of ages.

The lesson is intended to meet the student needs: the focus can be on the grammar, conversation or literature. In case of a middle-level speaker, the lesson will cover all four language's abilities: listening, speaking, writing and reading. My suggestion of a well planned lesson is, for any level, to divide it into two parts: grammar first and then conversation (covering all the abilities mentioned above).

If you wish to brush up your Italian, resume a past series of lessons, or simply start from scratch learning Italian, this is the right lesson for you! I like to personalize each class/course according to the needs and goals of my students. My classes are focused on improving the student's communication skills. At beginner and lower intermediate levels, I prefer using a text book/ student book in the first part of the class. I usually use "Nuovissimo Progetto Italiano" and "Arrivederci" by Edilingua, or "Nuovo Espresso" and "Dieci" by Alma Publishing. For the second part of the lesson, I create engaging contents using original videos, press articles, extracts from blogs and social media, literary texts. If the students do not feel comfortable using Italian from scratch, I can switch to English, German, or Dutch. The course fee includes the correction of home assignments.
