About Me

Hello future student! I'm Marina, I'm from Catalunya, in the North of Spain -close to Barcelona- and I'm currently living in the UK! I studied Philosophy and then I did my Teaching Training Master's Degree, so I'm a Qualified Teacher :)

I'm focus my career as much as possible in the education field and I'd like to teach Spanish in England, because I think it's a really different language and, definetely, a very different culture that I'm sure you'd love if you have the opportunity to visit it!

Due to my birth-place, I speak another language, Catalan, and I'm open to teach it to you as well, it will be funny!

I always try to make my lessons as dynamic as possible, because I know how much can you hate a subject if you don't have a good teacher or if you simply have a boring one! I did my school placement in a Secondary School, where I had to develop my own unit. I planned, I prepared, I taught it and I marked it as well. I had a really good experience and I can't wait to start my career in Education.

I have worked as a private tutor for 2 years with an A-levels student, helpim him to prepare his exams to entry to the university. He got a 10/10 in Philosophy!!!!

I helped some mates in the university with Logic's subject -the went from a failed to a 8/10, so not bad at all!

I specialise in tutoring English, Maths and Science for different schools around West Yorkshire area. My goal is to keep students challenged, and not overwhelmed. I assign homework for each student after every lesson and provide them a progress report end of each month to see how far they have come.

The lessons are tailored so each student can achieve their own personal learning goals. I provide TEFL for both young learners and adults, in General English, Business English and IELTS preparation.
Lessons for young learner are done using fun activities and TPR to encourage guided discovery. Mistakes are welcomed as they help young learners to learn and remember. Lessons include reading, listening, writing, grammar, phonics and conversation to build the confidence, vocabulary and proficiency of each learner based on their individual needs.
Classes for adults can be General English, Business English or IELTS preparation and again all of the skills are incorporated, whilst the lessons are individually suited to the desired learning objectives and areas most in need of improvement or support.
Lessons for British students are provided for KS1 and KS2 students, as well as 11+ exam preparation. again lessons are tailored for the individuals needs as well as focussing on topics they enjoy. Lessons for younger learners focus on learning through fun and finding what they need support with and teaching techniques that work for the individual. Again, young learners are reassured that our philosophy is 'mistakes help us learn'.

This class can help improve your child's English grade. Through the use of a baseline test I can initially identify gaps to help improve their foundational skills, which includes grammar, spelling, and vocabulary. Once, these are strengthened we will move onto writing for different genres. Enabling children to develop and adapt their writing style to match different genres. Across all levels we will use different texts to develop their reading and comprehension skills. As a primary school teacher with over a decade worth of experience I have planned and taught English from age 4-11.
