Hallo zusammen,

my name is Aaron, I am a jazz and modern music drummer with more than 10 years of experience. I am an internationally active musician.
And I offer drum lessons in Weißensee!

I teach from the very basics of the instrument to the most advanced stuff. Technique, essential rhythm patterns, coordination, sound... We can also deal with aspects of reading, improvisation, composition, music theory, etc. Any style!

In seinem Herkunftsland ister bei wichtigen Festivals aufgetreten, wie dem Heineken Jazzaldia in Donostia-San Sebastián, dem 12 Points Festival 2016 oder dem 39. Internationalen Jazzfestival Getxo, sowie an herausragenden Veranstaltungsorten wie dem Bogui Jazz und dem Plaza Jazz Club in Madrid, dem CAAC in Sevilla,dem Altxerri Club in Donostia, dem Sala BBK und dem Hacería Jazz Club in Bilbao. Auf internationaler Ebene ist er mit anderen Projekten in Italien, den Niederlanden, Deutschland, Frankreich und Dänemark und an in der Szene bekannten Orten wie dem JazzHouse in Kopenhagen, dem B- Flat in Berlin oder dem Bimhuis in Amsterdam aufgetreten. 2019 veröffentlicht er sein Debütalbum Memories mit der Aarón Band, aufgenommen inden UDK-Studios in Berlin, der Stadt, in der er derzeit lebt und als Lehrer und Musiker arbeitet.

Drums, as with bass guitar are the backbone of any good song, and the foundation upon which the music is built. Despite not being as famous as lead vocals or lead guitar. Drums in my opinion is much more fun, at all levels of performance.

I will teach you how to play the drums, how to fit the style to the genre and we will learn by practice by breaking down the famous classics, and explain what part drums played to make these classics so good.

We will use my electronic drumset, which is not as good as the real thing but is definitely good for starters. There are ways you can practice at home without a drumset as well. And we can expand later and rent a studio room, where I can jam with you on the guitar even!

MIRUDANGAM is an Indian Classical Percussion instrument that is well known for classical music. I have been Learning Music for more than 12 years and also teaching for more than 3 years under the guidance of my teacher. The classes will be taken for the age more than 5 up to any age.
I was teaching back in India and now I am in Berlin, so I wanted to start taking the classes online and offline in Berlin.
Classes will be taken hourly basis, based on the stage of learning.

I have the instrument with me for the classes. But I also suggest students buy a new one for them to practice regularly. I can also arrange a new one for the students from India.

I am Tomás , an experienced live and studio drummer with a Master Of Music degree from the Royal Northern College of Music in the UK and I am available as a private tutor.

MY APPROACH
I am aware that everyone is different and therefore lessons need to be individually tailored every time. I will make an effort to get to know you as a person as well as your reason for playing the drums so I can then adjust your lesson material adequately. This ensures that every student is enjoying themselves from the very first lesson and therefore the learning will naturally occur much faster.

WHERE
Lessons are at my studio in Wedding, postcode 13359. The room is spacious and comfortable and has a PA system and two drum kits, making it ideal for lessons. I am also available to teach at the student’s location;
AGES
I have taught one-on-one lessons to kids as young as 7 but also to adults in their 50s and 60s. Whatever your age, we will make it work.

SKILL LEVELS
My experience ranges from teaching young beginners who are just starting out to mature drummers who need to polish their playing. For beginner students, I will teach you the basics of drumming in an approachable way to make it enjoyable from the very start. For experienced drummers, I can improve your technique, groove, feel, tone, articulation, dynamics, stage performance, vocabulary, listening, and reading. All this so you can become a better musician, not just a drummer. I also like to teach in a way that empowers you to teach yourself in the future.

I have been teaching 1-on-1 lessons for 11 years. I also have 7 years experience leading drum and percussion workshops.

ABOUT MY DRUMMING EXPERIENCE
I've been drumming for over 22 years and have now recorded and gigged with multiple bands, some of which I am the co-founder and co-songwriter for. Styles of music I have performed include rock, jazz, funk, psychedelia, afrobeat, disco, dance rock, electro, grunge, metal, blues, latin, and samba. I have a Master Of Music degree from Manchester’s Conservatoire (Royal Northern College of Music) in the UK. I also have experienced producing, composing, and mixing which I am more than happy to share with you.

Through time I have found out that starting by playing songs chosen by the student and creating exercises to practice that came out from the drums of that song is a very good way to learn how to play the instrument. Would you like to learn the drums or further develop your skills? I offer individual drum lessons for beginners and advanced players in Berlin Wedding – fun, systematic, and musically profound.
I am a trained jazz drummer (Bachelor of Music, HfMT Hamburg, final grade 1.0), taught for many years at the Neumünster Music School (Schleswig-Holstein) and was a lecturer for percussion major at the Academy of the Hamburg Conservatory for one year.
In my lessons, the joy of making music is paramount – regardless of skill level. I place particular emphasis on preparing my students as best as possible for playing with others, because it's in an ensemble that the percussion instrument truly shines.

This is how the lesson works:

Playing the drums is both fun and very rewarding, but it also carries a significant amount of responsibility. The drummer is the backbone of any musical community, creating a vital foundation for the other instruments to thrive upon. With a wealth of exercises and content available online at your fingertips to study, I can offer you valuable, personalized advice on three key aspects: technique, time, and touch. I like to call them the 3Ts.

Technique: Playing the drums is physically demanding, requiring an awareness of proper posture to safely build the muscles needed to maintain a seamless flow of movement for hours on end.

Time: Keeping a steady pulse is the primary focus of being a drummer. We need to build up our confidence to consistently maintain the desired time, even under adverse conditions.

Touch: While presenting steady time, we need to open our awareness to make our beat feel good. It’s an attitude. It’s about being musical. This means using dynamics and personalizing our four limbs to create our own unique groove. This is where it gets deep.

I love teaching beginners. They usually can jump ahead quickly in a short time. There is no mystery. The way forward means dedicating a little (or a lot) of time daily to the drums. Even just 10 minutes a day can lead to significant improvements. That’s the secret.

I recommend using an intensive approach with the classes.

Beginners take 5 weeks of 60-minute classes to learn the basics and then continue working on your own, returning for follow-up “check-ups” as needed.
For intermediate-level students, I recommend a 90-minute class where I present a comprehensive overview, all tailored to your immediate needs. You then come back for more when the information has been digested.
For advanced-level students, the same. There is so much to cover that we can focus on very specific topics. Styles, the rudiments etc... I have a lot of experience with traditional jazz and the rudimental history behind the craft.

In the end, it's about creating time to connect with the drums every day. This connection is a wonderfully rewarding and grounding addition to our lives. I look forward to meeting and working with you.

I am 33 years old and have extensive musical training and experience. I completed classical piano school at the age of seven and subsequently played percussion (djembe, conga, bongo) for seven years. In addition to my classical training, I studied jazz drums and percussion at the conservatory for four years. I enjoy DJing, working with Ableton Live, and giving valuable advice in the field of electronic music. I am currently pursuing my Master's degree in Music Therapy at the Berlin University of the Arts.
