Trusted teacher: I am a native teacher from Barcelona, with a degree in History and as a Spanish teacher for foreigners. I also have a masters degree in teaching. I have been teaching Spanish and Catalan private lessons for over 15 years, but I’ve also taught in the context of cultural associations and the French and Catalan national education. I am always happy to be part of my students’ learning journey; no matter what level you have, we will learn plenty of things together! :) I offer dynamic Catalan online classes adapted to each person and their needs. My lessons are oriented to all levels, using the language in real and pedagogic contexts. As a teacher, I am very interested in letting my students learn not only the language but also the Catalan culture, as it is a fundamental aspect to really be able to succeed in the learning process. In order to do so, we will work on all the different competences (oral and writing skills), grammar and vocabulary, of course, but also I like to use some real texts, videos, songs, etc., so we can get the chance to learn from real instructional materials and discuss the news and culture. The most important thing is to try to communicate in Catalan so you will become more and more fluent. We will get there step by step! I’ve helped a lot of students pass their exams, prepare their interviews and resumes, or just be comfortable in their oral practise. Having attended the Calandreta primary, nursery, and secondary school (an immersive Occitan-language program based on Freinet and Montessori pedagogies), I grew up in a multilingual environment and developed a natural aptitude for learning and sharing the languages I speak (French, English, Spanish, and Occitan). I offer tailored lessons for children, adapted to their level and age. For younger children, I focus primarily on conversation in their target language, as well as games and reading in the language they are learning. For older children, I also offer homework help or support with their textbooks. I strive to teach languages using the same pedagogies that allowed me to become multilingual from a very young age. I taught English to my 15-year-old little sister, who now has a B2 level and is currently being certified (Cambridge). I also gave French lessons to two boys aged 8 and 10, in the form of games and homework help. Furthermore, having earned a degree in English, I am experienced in teaching at a more advanced level in courses tailored to adults (phonetics, linguistics, translation, etc.). Ona has been a much better teacher than I could've hoped for. First and foremost, she has the ability to be very adaptable with respect to the way that she instructs you. Whether it be observing and understanding how the student learns most effectively or more explicitly, you can tell what you want to learn and how you'd like to do so. Many teachers, I have found, have a method and stick with it, without consideration of how a student may learn best. That ability on its own distinguishes between what is a good/average teacher and a GREAT teacher or coach. She is also extremely kind and patient (something very important for me, as I tend to struggle!), which makes learning something difficult and a bit exhausting at times, much more enjoyable than it would be otherwise. S-Tier Instructor!

I just wanted to drop a quick note to say how great she is as a teacher and as a person! She is not just the best teacher, but her personality is equally wonderful. She is incredibly patient and have a super cool way of teaching, and on top of that, she is super friendly. Plus, she is one of the smartest teachers I've ever had. In my opinion , she is the best teacher ever, and I can't believe how much I've learned, even from our very first class. Thanks a bunch for being so fantastic!

Our 12th grade IB student daughter has only had one one-on-one and one online lesson so far and we can say that Maria has gone above and beyond in providing reliable feedback on an IA in HL chem. We are going to continue throughout the pre-exams of IB and see how Maria can help IB revision in SL math, HL bio and perhaps HL physics. Very happy to have met Maria via this platform.
