About Me

I am a bass-baritone with extensive stage experience. From 2005 to 2023, I was a permanent ensemble member first at the Komische Oper Berlin and later at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden.
My repertoire includes roles such as Leporello (Don Giovanni), Colline (La Bohème), Don Basilio (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Daland (The Flying Dutchman), and Dr. Kolenatý (The Makropulos Affair).
I have collaborated with distinguished conductors including Sir Simon Rattle, Daniel Barenboim, Václav Luks, Paul McCreesh, and René Jacobs.

My discography includes recordings such as Dvořák’s Biblical Songs and Requiem (DECCA), Schubert’s Winterreise (Supraphon), and Janáček’s Jenůfa (CD and DVD), among others.

Having benefited from inspiring teachers and mentors at the beginning of my own career, I am keen to pass on this knowledge. My teaching places a strong emphasis on musical interpretation, while maintaining a solid technical foundation.

I completed my vocal studies (Master of Arts) at the University of Ostrava.
I further developed my artistic skills through masterclasses with renowned artists such as Peter Dvorský and Thomas Quasthoff.
In addition, I was a participant of the Accademia Rossiniana in Pesaro and the Verbier Festival Academy.

Experience / Qualifications

I hold a Master of Arts degree in vocal performance and have maintained an ongoing collaboration with my alma mater, the University of Ostrava, since graduating. Each year, I lead several workshops for students, with a particular focus on musical interpretation.

In addition, I give masterclasses for prizewinners of the KBS-KEPCO Music Competition and
I will hold masterclass for selected students as part of the Janáček International Music Festival.

My name is Denise and I'm a professional singer with a singing master's degree from Catalonia's Music College (ESMUC) specialized in Historical Singing, Musicology and Music Education.

A typical class would start with warm-up exercises, then we would work on repertoire that I can suggest (after I can assess the vocal range). Of course you can always take pieces with you!
I can also accompany you on the piano for my own repertoire suggestions.

The human voice is the instrument closest to us. Therefore, I believe that through voice training, you not only discover the joy of singing, but also get to know yourself and your own body much better.
I am studying solo singing myself and am therefore very much looking forward to meeting motivated and musical singers.
Above all, a natural and healthy singing technique is very important to me, because only then do you have the right tools to work musically and interpretatively.

My current schedule changes every week (rehearsals/university/concerts) so for now I would always make appointments a week in advance instead of keeping a fixed date every week.
