Hello! I am a professional violinist and have a passion for music, especially classical though I also love jazz and other styles. I teach people of every age and experience and from absolute beginner to conservatoire level and beyond. I love working with children and for the past three and a half years I was working full time in Glasgow city primary and secondary schools, teaching individually, in groups, coaching chamber music ensembles and conducting the council orchestras (winning 1st prize, School Orchestra Category, Glasgow Music Festival 2018). My students so far have achieved 100% pass rate in state SQA exams in Scotland and in all ABRSM exams). Lessons are tailored to the individual needs of the students, and I believe that we learn most effectively when we are having fun! I will tailor the lessons to your needs: playing for pleasure at home is not the same as preparing for entrance exams (although always with the same rigor). Your goals will influence the methodology, the organization of your studies, the repertoire, and so on. Relaxed (but rigorous) environment: Once you've defined your goals, classes will be dynamic and pressure-free. Note! "Relaxed" doesn't mean undemanding; we'll just avoid military methods—especially given my personality and sense of humor. Music, not just notes: My methods are very dynamic, with a special emphasis on hearing and musicality. No "read, play, and turn the page." I avoid approaches obsessed with reading sheet music without memorizing, listening, or understanding what is being played. I want you to own your performance and make artistic decisions. Warning! I might even make you sing. No stylistic barriers: Thanks to my training in Jazz and Modern Music, I give equal importance to all genres. I am a professional violinist. I graduated with distinction at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels (Master) and hold a Bachelor Diploma from Codarts (Rotterdam). I also pursued a masters degree in Music Education at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. I teach students of all ages and levels. I have thirteen years of teaching experience in the Netherlands and in Belgium ( privately and at music schools/muziekacademies). Your body is your instrument when singing. We try to make that instrument sound as beautiful as possible by working on sound formation. This allows the vocal cords to move more freely, so that you get tired less quickly when singing. Your voice becomes fuller and you can sing higher and lower notes. During the singing lessons we also work on articulation, the pronunciation of foreign languages and also on the meaning of and your feelings about a particular piece.
