Would you like to be able to illustrate the worlds and stories you imagine?

Do you want to learn how to create characters for a video game, animation, children's story, comic or in any format? Or would you like to be able to draw your favorite characters?

If you have those concerns, I would love to help you.

I like to focus the classes in such a way that the current drawing level of the student is not what is important. The room for improvement will always evolve. I like to take my classes towards character design, towards general things like the psychology of color and shapes, since they are assimilable and highly useful concepts, independent of the level of drawing. For this reason, my classes are aimed at all ages and drawing levels.

I also try to focus them on the preferences and tastes of each student, showing them that everything they like, they like for a reason, that nothing is left to chance and that they can also understand how to make their drawings reflect what they want to convey. Even to create your portfolios or visual information for your own project or story.

I give private classes with students from different parts of the world, so many of my classes I have been able to do in both English and French.

I studied 2D animation in France, and thanks to this training, my work has been nourished by dynamism, storytelling, expressiveness, typical of this medium, as well as the sensitivity for color and shapes that I usually use to infuse a unique style both to my original designs as well as my fanarts.

Portfolio Preparation for Fashion with Marie von Voxel
Digital Costume Designer & 3D Artist | Visiting Lecturer in 3D | Exhibiting Artist

Are you preparing a portfolio to apply for a degree in fashion or costume design? I’ll help you build a clear, compelling portfolio that showcases your creative voice and technical potential.

With over a decade of professional experience in theatre costume and a recent specialization in digital couture, I teach portfolio development the way schools expect it: concept-led, visually strong, and technically confident. As a visiting lecturer at the Estonian Academy of Arts and an exhibiting artist across Europe, I combine artistic direction with practical skills so your work reads as professional and original.

What we’ll work on

Concept & Storytelling: develop a coherent narrative and creative direction for your collection (moodboards, themes, visual research).

Sketching & Visuals: improve your drawing and digital sketching (Photoshop, Procreate workflows, AI-assisted ideation) to present polished looks.

3D & Technical Skills: translate ideas into virtual garments with CLO3D — patterns, fitting, and realistic digital samples.

Advanced Presentation: photoreal renders, motion/video reels, and portfolio layout (Cinema4D, Photoshop, After Effects).

Admissions Prep: portfolio sequencing, written artist statements, CV guidance, and mock admissions interviews in a professional context.

Who this is for

High-school students aiming for competitive fashion programs.

Aspiring designers who want a portfolio that balances creativity with technical evidence.

Students who use Procreate or Photoshop and want to add convincing 3D work to their application.

Why study with me

Rare combination of theatrical costume practice and cutting-edge digital couture.

Hands-on, project-driven lessons tailored to admissions criteria and jury expectations.

Practical support: I help translate and polish your portfolio text, advise on CV/content for applications, and run mock reviews to sharpen your presentation.

The program is designed for students interested in concept art, illustration, visual storytelling, and portfolio preparation for art schools, animation/game-related programs, or independent artistic development. It follows a mentorship-based approach, combining artistic foundations, conceptual thinking, and portfolio strategy, adapted to everyone's style, vision and long-term goals.

What's in it?

PART I

1. Artistic & visual language

• Traditional drawing & illustration techniques
• Shape & form study
• Light, color & values
• Composition & visual storytelling

2. World-building & visual thinking

• Environment design (natural & built spaces)
• Props, objects, and visual detail
• Character concepts (anatomy basics, silhouettes, expression)
• Style exploration (realistic, stylized, symbolic, experimental)
• References vs originality: how to build from research without imitation

3. Cognitive & creative process

• Artistic thinking & workflow
• From idea to image
• Documentation & reference gathering
• Moodboards & visual research
• Iteration, selection, refinement
• Knowing when a piece is finished

4. Digital foundations (optional / hybrid)

• Transition from traditional to digital
• 2D digital tools & workflows
• Layer logic, brushes, textures
• Digital painting fundamentals
• Presentation-ready images
• Case studies from professional concept artists & illustrators

This section is optional and may be skipped for students with prior digital experience. In such cases, the focus will be on refining and strengthening what has already been acquired.

IMPORTANT!

All sections in Part I (artistic practice, visual language, world-building, technical and digital foundations) are approached according to the student’s existing level, from beginner to advanced. If foundational skills are already present, these areas will not be repeated mechanically; instead, the focus will shift toward portfolio development, conceptual depth, and refinement of existing work.

PART II

Portfolio development & mentorship

1. Portfolio building

• Defining the student’s artistic direction
• Selecting and developing strong themes
• Creating cohesive series, not isolated images
• Aligning personal style with academic or professional expectations
• Consistent review, feedback, and refinement

2. Application-specific support (where applicable)

• Portfolio selection & sequencing
• Artist statements or motivation letters (with visuals)
• Adapting work to specific institutions or programs
• Understanding evaluation criteria
