I am an experienced and enthusiastic guitar tutor from Leeds, England, living in Berlin. I have a bachelor’s degree in jazz guitar from Leeds College of Music although I also play and teach rock, pop, funk, folk, and indie music. In lessons, I aim to get students to play something they know as soon as possible in order to get excited about progress early on. We balance this with paying attention to proper technique and having one eye on the theory behind what we are playing to broaden your understanding of how music works. I am actively engaged in playing within the music scene and have a real excitement for all types of music, whether it’s learning your first chords on guitar or working on improvisation or music theory. Hello :) My name is Yaniv, a classical guitarist and guitar teacher with over 10 years of playing experience and 6 years of teaching. In my lessons, I focus on the joy of playing — how to enjoy the music, build control and confidence, and play the music you love. I work with my own books, with pieces and songs I’ve played over the years, and I also teach songs that students love and want to learn. I teach how to figure out songs by ear, understand how to play them, write charts, and more. We can work together on reading notation and tablature, proper technique, playing classical pieces and songs, improvisation, ear training, rhythm, and music theory — all tailored to your level and goals. I taught for many years at a conservatory, as well as privately. Some of my students started learning with me from the very beginning, stayed committed, and today they play at a very high level and perform in various ensembles. This October, I’ll begin an exchange program at the University of the Arts Berlin (UDK), and I’ll likely continue living here. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in classical guitar performance from the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, and a diploma in jazz guitar performance from Rimon School of Music.
