Trusted teacher: This class is for students of any age who wish to learn the transverse flute. Learning an instrument takes time and commitment, but it's hugely rewarding - and it doesn't have to be boring! I have experience teaching students of all age and levels and I specialise in tailoring my teaching to meet the individual needs of each student. Beginner flute lessons are suitable for students learning from scratch or those already playing up to about ABRSM Grade 2 level. In beginner flute lessons, you will learn the fundamentals of making a sound and play your first notes, as well as the basics of reading music. As lessons progress, you will learn your first short pieces and maybe even prepare for graded exams. Intermediate lessons are suitable for students already playing at about ABRSM Grade 3 to Grade 5 levels. In these lessons, you will build on what you already know to expand your abilities on the flute. You will learn more about different musical styles and techniques and develop more confidence to express yourself through music. Advanced lessons are for students already playing at about ABRSM Grade 6 and beyond. Depending on each student, lessons could involve growing more skills to take the advanced grade or diploma exams exams through to learning the skills to put together a recital programme or prepare for a music college audition. There is wide scope in these lessons to focus on your areas of interest, while still keeping an eye on the solid foundations of good flute technique and musicianship.

Trusted teacher: Please note I do not have the same availability every week, except the 7pm-8pm slot on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Though predictable, my availability for earlier times changes weekly. I'm aware that might not suit some students. I'm based in Blackrock. My lessons are face-to-face at a cafe in Blackrock or at my student's home (when it's not too far from Blackrock/Stillorgan) as I'm learning to drive and have young kids. Online lessons are available if students wish to practice speaking rather than learning grammar or working on a textbook. I can also teach Shodo(Japanese Calligraphy), Origami, and how to make karaage, teriyaki dishes and matcha desserts. My availability changes every week except a 7-8pm slot (I'm available from 7-8pm every week except Monday and Thursday) due to my husband's work schedule. I have 3-4 days every week where I'm available from 2pm onwards. (Some week I'm available from Fri to Mon, other week I'm available from Tue to Thurs). I'm also available from 10:00-12:00 on weekdays. I teach all ages and all levels (including Leaving Cert students). I have 5 years one-on-one teaching experience (in Japan, Australia and Ireland) with adults, teens and kids. I come from a Linguistic background (I have a degree in English Linguistics), which not many tutors actually do, but having the knowledge is extremely important when it comes to learning a language because the difficulties you face are often due to what your native language is and the difference between your native language and the language you are learning. Before I started university, I wasn't confident in my English skills though I was always getting good grades at school. Being immersed into Linguistics taught me the whole new perspectives. I offer advice and recommendations, but I usually let my students pick textbooks as every student has different preferences and goals. Lessons can be tailored to meet individual requirements/requests. I also offer my students translation/interpreting/proofreading services too should they need them.

I have group and private sessions as well. After initial assessment I like to determine what kind of goals my students would like to achieve and keep that goal in focus work towards it. I strongly believe that even a tiny achievement helps to boost confidence in the water, which helps to feel relaxed and comfortable with the environment. Also I love to provide knowledge about the strokes, why they had developed and look like now today. Also love to explain how the hydro-dynamics and physics work in the water, and why is so important even for the early learning phases, to learn each stroke crucial points, therefore we set us up for success.

Trusted teacher: I am a graduate from Queen Mary University of London with a first class degree with honours in Mathematics and Actuarial Sciences. Mathematics is an essential subject studied by all students from prep school to GCSE class. Having adequate Maths knowledge also helps students understand science subjects such as Physics and Chemistry. Studying Maths has always been fun for me since I love finding the most efficient way to solve problems. I understand that not all students feel this way and that is why I am here to teach students not only the fundamental methods to solve Maths problems but also how closely related Maths is to our real world. In my lessons, I will use Key Stage, AQA, and GCE Maths books with sample papers to explain the content thoroughly to my students. I will also offer class notes written by myself specifically for my students to help them grasp the knowledge in a clear layout. Having completed both my GCSE and A-level studies in the UK, I have firsthand experience of studying and taking these exams and hope to deliver my tips to my students. I am fluent in English although my native language is Mandarin Chinese. Finally, as an older sibling, I have experience assisting my sister the whole way through her GCSE exams. I believe I am patient and eloquent when teaching younger students. I look forward to getting to know my students and helping them ace their upcoming exams.

Ghous is a very kind and pleasant teacher. He explains everything clearly and is always responsive and supportive. He adapts to the student’s pace and is very flexible when it comes to scheduling and learning preferences. He has a strong command of Electrical Engineering topics and is able to explain even complex concepts in a simple and understandable way. Ghous is also very helpful with assignments, even when they are in a different language, which shows both his deep subject knowledge and his adaptability. I’m very satisfied with his lessons and would definitely recommend him to others.

My son had his first lesson with David last night. The first thing my son said was ́ómg he knows his stuff ́ ́... I am really impressed that David took the time to to ask my son quite a number of questions so he could gauge the level and the gaps in my son’s learning. great experience! we only had couple of hours of conversation, as I wanted to take the rust off my French during a trip in Paris. she was very open, easy-going and at the same time very helpful in pointing-out prononciation, words that I didn't know, etc. I'm sure she's great for classes over a longer time period too. highly recommended.
