My lessons are constructed and taught along three axis:

1) Tailoring. Pupils with disabilities require teaching sequences adapted to their individual needs as, each individual has different learning capabilities and tools. Thus, I make sure my teaching is tailored to the specific needs of my pupil.

2) Engaging and fun. I am convinced teaching and learning are more effective when both the teacher and the pupil feel engaged in the lesson.

3) Centered on critical thinking. History, geography and social sciences are ideal platforms for engaging in debates and thus critical thinking. Critical thinking is the tool that enables one to engage succesfully with the world, and oneself.

Over the course of my 2 years teaching, I have focused my lessons on the following subjects (amongst others): deforestation, slavery, the dangers of internet, mushrooms and dinosaurs.

I tend to make the way my lessons are taught as diversified and fun as possible. Using various tools to teach: visits to museums or events, documentaries, games, sculpture, debates, etc.

On several occasions, I have had pupils coming up to my desk after or before class to further discuss the topic currently taught. Often bringing about additional information they have discovered doing their own research at home. As a teacher, their is nothing I love more as this is exactly what I aim: to spike curiosity in the students I teach.

About Me
Hello, I am Valentin, 28 years old from Belgium.

I grew up in various countries in Africa and Oceania. This means I am open minded and feel comfortable in different cultural settings.

My passion has always been natural. Making sure future generations get the opportunity to live within a healthy planet is my number one priority.

As such, I am currently working as a volunteer in a private Conservancy in Kenya. Managing local human wildlife conflict here.

From my experience and understanding, I know today's society can be tough to navigate. Thus, through teaching history, geography and social sciences I wish to engage my pupils in debates that bring about critical thinking. Critical thinking, is I believe, the right tool to understand the forces in play and a necessary step towards a serene spirit.

On my leisure time I fancy hiking, drawing, reading books and cultural visits.

In these neuro-divergent times, the binary division of "one language or two" in bilinguals is perhaps due some contestation, which students are capable of providing. I have always found bilingual production models (and the ubiquitous Powerpoint slide) that university teachers provide a hindrance because of their lack of explicitness and discussion - they are just not relatable as presented nor do they provide much information or examples for monolingual students.

Code-switching, a by-product of bilingualism, is now a term that is even found in minority-ethnic neighbourhood grafitti ("can white people code-switch" a found example). Please note that this is a linguistic term, used for switching between two languages, and not between local or social varieties of English.

My personal position is that there is no such thing as bilingualism: there is always a language that suffers attrition, and one language that prevails, mostly because of its prestigious standing over the other language. On the other hand, a child exposed to more than one language cannot be truly monolingual.

For this course (very popular at universities around Europe both at undergraduate and postgraduate level) we shall go through the terms used to discuss bilingualism, in detail, and then discuss, with the help of published books and articles, who can be considered bilingual (or are we all, one other language lying dormant?). Can bilingualism be defined by the speaker, instead of the "community"? Can it be imposed by the State? Does a bilingual brain function in the same manner as a monolingual brain? These are research questions that emerge as dissertation or thesis topics both at undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

Hello dear customer. Get to know your legal professional. I'm currently a practicing attorney, skilled writer, and internet researcher, doing exactly what I promise. The legal profession, research and writing have been my passion since the early years of my legal career, and through learning and experience, I have sufficiently honed my skills in these areas. Additionally, I am currently pursuing my Masters, a degree that I believe is an added advantage to my experience. Do not hesitate to entrust me with your assignment and expect the best from my services. Thank you in advance, and stay safe.
In this lesson I will guide you through the process of conducting legal research and writing legal documents.

- Legal Research: The teacher will explain how to conduct legal research, which is a crucial skill for anyone working in the legal field. This includes understanding how to use legal databases, how to find and interpret laws, regulations, and case law, and how to keep up with the latest legal developments. The teacher will also cover how to analyze legal issues and apply the law to specific scenarios.

- Legal Writing: The teacher will then move on to legal writing, which is another essential skill for legal professionals. This includes learning how to write various legal documents such as briefs, memos, contracts, and legal opinions. The teacher will give you tips on how to write clearly and persuasively, how to organize your arguments, and how to cite legal sources correctly.

- Practical exercises: Throughout the lesson, the teacher will provide practical exercises to help you apply what you have learned. This may include researching a specific legal issue or drafting a legal document.

Colonial cities in Indonesia were shaped by political, economic, and cultural imperatives of empire. This course combines rigorous historical analysis with in-situ field learning, inviting international learners to experience colonial urban history through direct observation of city form, heritage architecture, and spatial organization.

Rather than abstract narratives or rote memorization, our approach treats cities as living texts. Students study how colonial authorities designed urban space for trade, governance, and control, and how these spatial logics endure in the modern city.

The class offers a hybrid blend of classroom discussion, archival interpretation, and guided urban walks in historically significant sites such as old town districts, port precincts, colonial administrative centers, and transportation infrastructure. Participants will explore heritage buildings, street patterns, canals, and rail alignments—observing how power was inscribed into the urban fabric.

Learning resources include historical maps, planning documents, photographs, and Dutch-language sources, combined with structured field observations to enhance analytical skills. Field sessions are designed not only to illustrate concepts discussed in class but to immerse students in the material realities of colonial urbanism.

By engaging with both documentary archives and urban environments, students will gain a deeper appreciation of how colonial spatial strategies were implemented and how their legacies shape contemporary Indonesian cities. This course is ideal for students, researchers, heritage professionals, and culturally curious travelers interested in urban history, architecture, and colonial studies.
