About Me

My name is Itziar Pla-Garde and I am the Spanish Language Coordinator at ELINQUA. I have been teaching Spanish for more than 12 years, in person and online to people all over the world. Since 2012 I have worked in Elinqua.

Education

I have a bachelor degree in Sociology and a Spanish teaching certificate from the University of Barcelona. Our classes are very dynamic and fully customized to your needs. You can choose between learning 1 on 1 or in small private groups.

To know a language is to be able to speak it. Too often, we do not learn vocabulary lists and grammar rules, without being able to utter a single word. This does not interest me!
My goal when I learn a language is to speak it, to communicate, to be able to fend for myself without the aid of a translator, and to learn through the language the mysteries of culture.
When I exercise my role as a teacher, I always have these same goals in mind. I therefore base my courses in a communicative approach that aims to be able to talk and share since the first class. For this I use role plays, scenarios, dialogues and other exercises related to the reality of the learner.

I also do accompaniment of adults to real life settings, brining the language to life. For example I can accompany you to the supermarket or the pharmacy etc and we speak in English or Spanish to bring your language learning to life. Languages open the door to opportunities. As an educator and teacher, I believe that it is essential to attend tutoring classes when the student needs support outside of school hours. My job is to adapt the classes and exercises individually for each student, in order to bring out their maximum potential. In a playful and participatory way, concepts can be assimilated with meaningful learning.
